Modlingua came at a very important phase in my life. Being a fresh graduate from university with no experience, I was confused about what I should aim for and what I could achieve. I didn't know anything about how translation worked or what kind of knowledge was required in the corporate world. Modlingua helped me understand it all.

Mr. Ravi Kumar helped us all with his constant online motivation and new videos every week. I really enjoyed learning on the Modlingua YouTube channel and realized how important this knowledge is before starting a career in translation and interpretation. Within a few days, he demonstrated the underlying principles of marketing strategies. Through the videos, the webinars, the articles, and the encouragement given by Mr. Ravi Kumar, I learned important facts about social media marketing, digital platform handling, and professional development - and I reflected on how beneficial all of this is for me as a future worker.

Personal and professional growth

Relating my name with one of India's best translation companies makes me proud of my life choices and motivates me to pursue my career with more hunger than ever before. I have started noticing positive changes in punctuality, efficiency, and networking. I learned how to be efficient within a limited time period - a skill that will help me in numerous ways in the future.

The videos, webinars, and articles enriched me with interesting ideas and views. After watching the Modlingua videos, I have already noticed progress in reading, writing, and understanding English, and also Chinese. Going through the articles on the Modlingua site made me realize that success is not an overnight task: well-planned strategies and consistency are needed to obtain great results. I am personally growing a lot in content writing, public speaking, networking, and more. Modlingua is proving to be my first step towards a brighter future.

All the team members of Modlingua are professionals and experts in many fields, such as languages, translation, interpretation, and localization - and I was a complete novice to all this. The everyday tasks, webinars, and assignments have been a helping hand in strengthening my business vocabulary.

Webinars, networking, and teamwork

In the networking domain, the organization conducts regular webinars where new interns like us are motivated to take the lead. The focus of this internship was to teach both budding and experienced translators to market themselves through various platforms. It focused on the non-linguistic aspects of the translation business. I have been a part of four webinars so far, and they have been a major confidence booster. There are a hundred-plus interns in the company with whom we interact daily, and my hesitation in speaking up has gradually reduced.

Even though the internship was not about translation work itself, I learned a lot about the vast world of business and how things work. It has been a great medium to learn leadership skills and how to work as a team. Coordinating with other interns for workshops and giving ideas related to marketing - everything prepared me to become a better version of myself. The highly informative videos on the Modlingua YouTube channel use simple language and day-to-day metaphors to explain technical terms of translation and interpretation.

What I learned beyond language skills

I am not a technical person, and I would never have ventured into studying marketing if Ravi sir had not taught us to learn so many diverse things. Under his guidance, I learned how to be creative, interactive, and engaging, and I got much-needed exposure to giving presentations. I also got to know about linguistics and, most importantly, how to be market-ready in the language field. Being a language student, it is essential to have excellent linguistic as well as non-linguistic skills. We have been rigorously posting content and commenting on Modlingua's YouTube videos - a practice that requires a good command over language.

I believe enrolling in this internship at Modlingua has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, and my personal growth is evident. The internship was online and completely free, which opened the door for a large number of people from different countries. I acquired knowledge and experience of working as professionals do - abiding by rules and regulations, handling workload, and time management. The teaching was well organized, descriptive, full of resources, and narrated in a simple, clear, and lucid way.

The efforts of Mr. Ravi Kumar as a teacher, mentor, and guide are truly appreciable, and I would like to extend my sincere regards for the same. He made an extra effort to build a team of hundreds of interns through social media and stayed in touch all the time. Sometimes I failed to cope with the deadlines, but he was understanding and patient throughout.

The assignments that shaped us

We were given four assignments:

• Critically discuss the importance of social media and leveraging networks
• Explain the relevance of citizen journalism
• Explain the relevance of IT and its use in translation
• Is translation an art or a skill? Discuss

The final assignment was to prepare a detailed report covering a brief about the internship, its purpose and learning objectives, what we learned, comments on the teaching methodology, expectations and learning outcomes, and finally our own overall assessment and conclusion.

These assignments, along with the video-submission tasks, pushed me to research and find unique angles to stand out from the crowd. It was a truly eye-opening experience. These were topics I had rarely thought about during college and after graduation. Modlingua taught us about the real work environment, how to respect others' time, and how to think like a boss.

Conclusion

As an intern, I learned how important networking could be for my career. Connecting with people in my desired career path has solidified my desire to work. I also found that knowledge alone doesn't make a difference - time management and sharpening the skills you possess do. I have found a significant change in my behavioral pattern as well: initially I was unable to concentrate on long videos, but now I find myself fully engrossed, taking notes and absorbing everything I watch and listen to. Thanks to Modlingua, my lockdown has not been boring, as I am learning something new every day.

As one of the interns of the Modlingua Summer Internship, I am proud to have completed the training under Mr. Ravi Kumar.
