Success Stories
Dr Julián Zapata is the founder and president of InTr Technologies, a Canada-based translation services and technology start-up.
He is a long time friend of Modlingua group. Dr Julián as well Mr Ravi Kumar, Founder of Modlingua Group both were the colleagues in PhD Program in Translation Studies at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Upon request of Mr Ravi Kumar, Dr Julián Zapata has agreed to deliver a guest lecture during Summer Internship Program at Modlingua where more than 150 interns are undergoing intensive training in various aspects of Translation, entrepreneurship and technology.
On July 03, 2018, In his lecture on "The Interactive Translation Dictation", Dr Julián will explore interactive translation dictation (ITD), a translation technique that involves interaction with voice-and-touch multimodal interfaces throughout the entire translation process. Many empirical studies in human-computer interaction have strived to demonstrate the efficiency of voice input versus keyboard input. Although it was implicit in the earliest works that voice input was expected to completely replace—rather than complement—text-input devices, it was soon proposed that voice recognition often performed better in combination with other input modes. Further, he will discuss voice recognition technology and multimodal interaction, and the extent to which these emerging forms of human-computer and human-information interaction have been used and investigated in translation. Lastly, he will also explain to the summer interns about the avenues for future work.

The "word" is my oyster!
For me translation is more than just transferring meaning from one language into another; it’s all about learning a language and it’s culture in depth and being able to ‘transfer’ that love into your readers.
