My experience at Modlingua was good. I learned many new things like how to transcribe a video, how to write scripts etc. This internship also enhanced my writing skills. Not only were there assignments but also there were guest lectures by experienced people for the interns. The director, Ravi Kumar, himself is a person with great knowledge who inspired me to achieve more in my life. Even after doing so much in his life, he is still studying and doing law. Not every day we get to such people who have done so much in their lives..

ASSIGNMENTS

• Analysis of errors and omissions in content writing- It was our first assignment. Mr. Ravi Kumar developed the Modlingua rubric and we had to edit our professional profile with this rubric. The rubric is a very helpful way to recognize one’s errors. Also, we learned about grammar check tools like Grammarly.
• Quality control in content writing and translation- In this assignment, we had to write about any of the 5 options given to us. We learned about general quality standards and quality standards in translation.
• Transcription and Subtitling- I found this assignment to be the most interesting and novel assignment of the internship. It was new for many interns. We learned how to transcribe and give subtitles to a video.
• Social Media Marketing- In this assignment, I got to learn about the GILT process and learned that translation is not as easy as it may seem. These assignments helped me to improve my writing skills.
• Script Writing- I found this assignment a little difficult. Being a beginner it was a little difficult to write about facts without plagiarism being there.

 
HOW THE ASSIGNMENTS HELPED ME?

I learned many new things from these assignments. It helped me gain knowledge about so many more things. For example, I did not know things like GILT, transcription, Grammarly, etc. Being a language learner, the knowledge of these things is going to help me a lot. A few assignments made me work on my writing skills.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ONLINE INTERNSHIP

(Internship at Modlingua was my first online internship so the advantages and disadvantages are based on my experience here).

ADVANTAGES

• It has the advantage of working in a comfortable environment. One stays at home and works according to suitable times.

DISADVANTAGES

• I think the entire internship was not too organized. There were no specific work hours, the assignments were given not given at equal time gaps, etc.
• Also unlike an “offline” internship, there was not much communication with other interns where one could interact, learn more and form more networks.

CONCLUSION

Modlingua is a company which not only provides translation services but also many learning opportunities. With little improvement, its internship program can become much better. I gained experience in content writing and transcribing, learned about problems and things that I didn’t know about, etc. Overall it was a good experience. I would like to stay connected with Modlingua group.
