Language is the base of everything and that too in the field of Journalism. So, learning a new language is always seen as a positive aspect in our life and also in terms of our career. In today's generation, the media has developed so much that any news could travel from one part of the world to another in fraction of time. As the digital media has progressed so much that one could get access to any news sitting at their home. We know that earlier the only source was the traditional media but now a days you have access to facebook, twitter, google+ and many more, which helps us in knowing the facts of the world and it comes with quality information.
In today's world a multilinguistic definitely would make a difference in the society, and being one of the multilinguist I can personally say this with my experience. If we look at the definition of a journalist which means a person who writes for newspaper, magazines or who prepare news to broadcast, he/she must have a command over his target language. His main purpose is to reach to his target audience so that they could read and be aware of some certain news. Now suppose if the journalist knows more than one language then definitely he/she could interact and come in contact to a vast portion of people, which is always a good thing.
Being a multilinguistic one could use their language skills in various ways in the field of journalism. Social media is a platform where the journalists could post in different languages which will reach to different audience across the globe. Language skills could be used for interacting with foreigners, and then narrating their experience in a different language so that it could reach to various people. The main focus should be that one should maintain the quality and credibility of the information.
With the arrival of the new technology web2.0, each individual could act as a reporter and if one has the knowledge and understanding of language he/she could achieve great success in his career. This new technology has given everyone a chance to enhance their skills and to use their language skills to enrich their career in future. Therefore, it is always said that knowing a foreign language other than your mother tongue will always help in whichever profession one takes in life weather it be in media, networking or translation. As today's youth is the future of the new media and at the same time of our developing nation, so a multilinguistic could make a change in a society by bringing new ideas and a new perspective to look at different things around us.
