For attracting new clients a freelancer must have professional identity and must have good knowledge of personal branding. Personal branding with better Professional identity is must to attract clients. So a freelancer should always have an updated portfolio.
A freelancer should connect to other groups of translators around him to promote himself. Personal branding is the key to get new clients. One must keep in consideration the use of online marketing. For example, social media such as youtube, facebook etc. these are nowadays the popular sites to spread anything easily. One could also get clients through the personal meetings so always remember to acknowledge everyone in your contact about your professionalism.
One must took in consideration to facilitate the client with his work by giving quick service or by taking less money or by accepting challenging tasks etc. A person have to satisfy his old clients with his work to get new clients. Because it is also a way of marketing yourself from client to client as if your old client is happy with you then they will recommend you and new client will also consider you. This is how we enhance our customer chain. In Delhi, freelancer usually get socialized in the embassy parties where they have the opportunity to get to know other translators, entrepreneurs, business persons or any other needful. Always be the man of words, you should always do the work before the deadline, this gives a good impression of yours to the clients. Always keep your social media profiles updated and stay connected to the peoples through your social media profiles. Content writing is also a good way of promoting yourself and attracting clients, so we should always write blogs, articles etc. First focus on the old clients, keep them satisfied and then move forward on getting new ones. Translators usually have the opportunity to register themselves on the online portals, for example upwork.com etc. where a test is conducted and rating is given to them and on the basis of these ratings they are hired as freelancers and they can work conveniently, efficiently as these jobs are purely work from home in nature. Attend conferences, meetings and do internships to enhance you skills and get in touch with the more peoples of your field. Now if we see the whole game is of marketing yourself to get new clients, you market yourself more and you get more clients provided your services must be better. And for a freelancer it is not much difficult to retain his clients because he don’t have to do much in this context only the simple things discussed above. Now the matter comes to retain old clients and set durable relationship, so for this you have to provide them services better than others in the market. Set up a good relationship with your client. A true freelancer is a true businessman, as he never let his clients left him. You have to provide them with the quality work. You have to make a client believe in you and it’s a major thing that your client believes you. And for this you must have to be punctual in your work and give quality in your work. Your client should be confident about giving any challenging work to you. You have to be time manager, financial manager everything in yourself to provide good quality to the clients. You must be aware of good clients and bad clients, bad clients could never setup a relationship but good clients always have good relations in market. You must not charge very high than the market rate and not less than the market rate. You must do an appreciative work to get more work in future and always keep the client happy. Never loose a client due to small things or small mistakes.  Always accept your mistake and assure them not to do those mistakes in future. Make yourself comfortable with the work and the clients so that client could be confident about you. Never break your promises made to clients. Never be afraid of challenging and quantity of work, accept only the work according to you capacity and your availability of time. And you must also be loyal towards your work and your client. Never let the client loose hope on you, provide them with the services better than others.
