Twelve years ago, in 2009, I delivered a presentation on dynamism in the language and translation business at LN Mittal Institute of Technology, Jaipur. At that phase of time, IT experts, as well as language experts, were discussing the use of Machine tools and memory tools to increase the efficiency and speed of translation. Today we have moved much ahead and now we are talking high about hybrid tools, artificial intelligence, and automation in the language and translation business. When I look back, at first instance I find previous concepts archaic. If I go deeper, they are still valid, and the new ones have been built on the old structure. So, the lesson is “Old is gold” and we must value those who created a base and path for us at our early age.
