Brief Profile

I am Abu Hamza, currently doing my Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University. I have done BA (HONS) and MA in Arabic. While doing my MA, I learned the Japanese Language till JLPT N3 level. I am fluent in English and Hindi as well. Nothing to say about Urdu it’s just like my mother tongue. While doing M Phil and PhD I have published a few academic papers in international and national journals. I have participated in the Japanese Essay Contest 2017, Junior Category, organized by JALTAI and received First Prize. I have served as an active member of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union Election Committee, a great platform to learn teamwork and manage our activities nicely. Currently, I have done TM Course offered by Dr. Ravi Kumar, the director of Modlingua. Now I am doing a Modlingua internship for practical application of my knowledge.

Career Goals

Let me start by my selection for BA (HONS) Arabic in JNU, after getting admission, I started thinking about my career and I found that translation is one of the best options for a linguist as it gives more flexibility of the work and good package. So I decided to choose the translation as a career option for me. I started doing some translation work after completing my bachelor's degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

While doing my MA I realized that there should be other academic activities apart from earning money, so I started thinking about it and it was also related to translation. I thought that I should do some literary and academic translation, but the question was what to translate? Which language should I choose? I found that there is a good scope of translation from Japanese to Arabic and Vice Versa, keeping this option in my mind I started learning the Japanese language. I realized that the Japanese language can’t be understood without knowing Japanese culture. While doing that I decided to focus on Arab and Japanese culture and interaction and submitted my M. Phil. dissertation on the same topic. As far as translation is concerned, so I translated 10 stories from Japanese into Arabic. I have also worked with Extramarks Education Pvt. Ltd. And translated some selected chapters of mathematics and science into the Arabic language. I have also Translated a book titled “World Politics and Muslim Countries” from English into Urdu.

And Finally, I want to establish my language assisting company. I was not much aware of the issues and challenges related to a language service provider company, but while doing the TM Course, I came across several issues and challenges and how to deal with these issues. I will use these skills to establish my company. In the future, I would also like to serve as a professor after completing my Ph.D., if I will be selected for the same.
