Professional profile:

I am Ruchika Sharma and currently a 2nd-year student of “Department of Germanic and Romance Studies”, University of Delhi. I have completed my schooling with commerce background from a well-reputed school in Faridabad. After trying my hand at a career option I was not built for, I finally started learning the German language which challenged and excited me in every sort of way. This language has provided me with diverse career options and zeal to chase my dreams and aspirations with utmost sincerity and passion.

A prestigious institution like Delhi University not only shapes and grooms your personality but also urges you to work for the betterment of your society. I have been volunteered my services and time in many NGOs like Child Rights and You (CRY) so that my education can be of some use to the ones in need. Apart from this, I am trying to excel in the German language by imparting knowledge to different age groups and hoping to make a change not only in my life but others as well.

Career goals:

Dancing to the rhythm of the songs, participating in every extra-curricular activity in school, sweating myself till the last drop to manage all kinds of events there are those childhood memories that I still hold dear and near to my heart.

The good grades I used to score established the surety of me getting into a reputed college one day but the hard work I used to pour into practising those dance steps, with a hunger for originality or organising those endless functions at my school flawlessly, by observing and experimenting with different ideas made me realise that I am more than just a good student. I had a creative mind that possessed an intrinsic drive to perform, compete and produce. When you score an appreciative percentage in 12th, your parents start imagining all sorts of conventional career options for you and this is what happened in my case. Chartered Accountancy was not something that piqued my every sense of creativity; it was not something that challenged my brain in the way I wanted it to. I am not demeaning any profession but everybody imagines a kind of life and satisfaction their career brings to them and I was not even close to that achievement. Learning a new language opened up a new level of the horizon for me. After leading a monotonous life for 2 years, going to a college and learning about the culture and beliefs of another country and discovering the exciting career prospects attached to it, altered and turned my plans around in a good way. I have been teaching the German language to all kinds of age groups, which enables me to interact with people inhabiting different approaches to life. I have discovered my hidden talent of teaching and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenges it serves me as I try to better myself every day. This field of profession allows me to explore myself and the world out there. I have applied for the DAAD scholarship, which allows me to get a better grip at my language, meet new people and unearth new opportunities while staying and studying in Germany for a month. Although I have a plethora of options to exploit, I really wish to further my education in Germany. After I have completed my graduation, my goal would be to teach for some years and then obtain a degree in event management from one of the universities in Germany which promote the practice of studying whilst working in the same field. I always function with back up plans in my life. So, if one doesn’t work, the other one would always be at my disposal. Moreover, I am a go-getter in nature, this means that coming up with new ideas and completing tasks on time and giving my 100% to everything is like a package deal.

It is beautiful when career and passion come together.
