Brief Profile

When I look back into my life, I always wonder how my life and goals have changed over the years and have taken a U-turn. When I was pursuing PCM along with Computer Science in Higher Secondary,  never in my wildest dreams did I think that I will land up learning Chinese in JNU. To be honest, pursuing Chinese was never on my list but now I feel lucky to know about Chinese and the culture. When I was in my 1 year, it was difficult to remember those characters but slowly with the time I learn my own way to remember them. The logic behind each and every character leaves me speechless. Through watching Chinese T.V series and movies I have definitely developed an undying love for Chinese. I don’t know it just makes me more curious to know about China and their life. In my 2 years, I performed during the Spring Festival held in JNU in front of so many Chinese delegations which did boost up my confidence. Being hesitant in speaking Chinese to literally singing a Chinese song was overwhelming. Interaction with Chinese students studying Hindi was also an amazing experience during this journey.

In my 3rd year, I think I have improved in understanding this mysterious language. Though nowadays sometimes I feel what exactly is written in my destiny. Can I make the best use of my knowledge? Do I limit myself to translation only or do I explore my capabilities? Besides this, I love to sing, dance, and writing poetry. I also run a page on Instagram for my writing stuff. It feels good when people can relate to your thoughts. I wish to write poetry in Chinese too, hoping that I will be able to do it soon. In the end, I would like to say that I want to know more about the usage of the Chinese language.  How it plays a role in the market besides translation and interpretation. And also I want to know more about teamwork.

Career Goal

The best thing about learning a language in a prestigious university like JNU is that they not only focus on the language but also provides you with deep knowledge of culture so that you can understand the perspective of China and be free of preconceived notions of the world about China. Currently, I’m in my last semester of B.A. Further, I aspire to complete my M.A in Chinese from JNU and then grab an opportunity as a foreign exchange student to study Chinese at BLCU in China. The way China is emerging fascinates me a lot and probably a country that can stand tall against the USA. The vision of “CHINA DREAM” is definitely the reason behind its growth. I want to explore how Chinese firms are doing so well in the market and want to bring a change in INDIA at my own level so that I can create opportunities for the youth. I’m looking forward to the internship at MODLINGUA and learn different aspects of the market.

Ritika is a summer intern at Modlingua
