PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Bonjour! My name is Saumya Devrani and currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor’s in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. I have been studying French for the past 10 years and I have also given DELF A1 and A2 from Alliance Française, Delhi. Being the school topper for the year 2018 ( with an aspiring 99%), I have always been a sincere and hardworking student. I believe in giving results. My interest in learning new languages and exploring new cultures is deep-rooted. Not only the language but the history of a language is something I’m inquisitive about. I have given 2 french Olympiads and have been awarded the silver medal for the same.
Apart from this, I’m fond of dancing. I have a diploma in Bharatnatyam from Prayag Samiti, Allahabad. I am also very active in extra-curricular activities. Throughout my school life, I have participated in various debate and drama competitions and even in college, I leave no stone unturned. I have even done some French theatre along with my seniors. I’m an avid reader and I free my time to make sure that I’m always reading something. Currently, I’m also pursuing an online course in Travel and Tourism from edX.
I’ve always believed in helping others and so currently I’m an active member of the National Service Scheme, JNU. I have also recently joined Teach for India campaign as I believe that alone we can do so little, together we can do so much!
CAREER GOAL

Career for me is not just about earning money or being employed in a white-collar job because I firmly believe that to be successful in this world, you have to follow your passion, not a paycheck! I realized my passion for languages when I was in the 5th standard and gave my first french exam. From that day onwards, a single day hasn't passed by where I have not used french in my life. I've worked hard to get into one of the most prestigious universities in India and that has opened many doors for me. I love learning new languages. I always have my hands full and I always look for new opportunities to work with. I have always dreamt of working at the French embassy and as a freelance translator. I have read many french novels, participated in numerous Olympiads, quizzes and I have also done theatre in French. There is so much more to a language than just speaking and writing, and so I take a keen interest in French history and French philosophy. I have given DELF A1 and A2 from Alliance française and I'm currently pursuing level B1. I even have many french and francophone correspondents and friends with whom I practice my French regularly. In the long term, I'd like to do a Ph.D. in French which would be a milestone in my career. I have left no stone unturned, I have been an avid reader and doer, having participated in my co-curricular activities. I believe my diversified experiences and my ability to work well as a team would serve as an asset. I enjoy working under good leadership which boosts my confidence and teaches me a lot of things.
I am, therefore, seeking a summer internship at Modlingua to comprehend and experience in the field of translation and interpretation. I assure in words and prone to action that I will give my best to this organization and would learn a great deal, gardening more feathers to my hat of knowledge!
