PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:

The curiosity to explore and the intent to listen with the utmost focus have helped me gather knowledge and uncover some of the concepts that may seem outrageous to the untrained human eye. I started with being proactive in school. I was allowed to speak a few words on environmental health when I was merely in fifth grade. I participated in various co-curricular activities like debates, declamations and participated in the prestigious Youth Festival. I co-hosted, with other anchors, the inaugural Annual Function of our school. I thank my excellence in academics, hosting cultural events, and actively taking part in intellectual and sportive pursuits (chess and volleyball) which led me to be voted the Student of the Year for the session 2016-17 when I was in 10th grade.

Later I pursued the sciences (2017-19), because of my undying curiosity to learn more about physics and perhaps to find the meaning of existence. I loved talking with my fellow mates from other streams to learn more about the basics of economics and the different schools of philosophies including Socrates, Nietzsche, and others. Hence, discovering the exceptions that the Humanities had to offer. As the things fell into place and the butterfly flapped its wings, I found myself at the University of Delhi, pursuing an undergraduate degree in French Language and Literature along with German as an elective (2019-22). Now after two years into this magnificent college experience, I feel like I have garnered the depth of literary aspects that an amateur often ignores.

The brief two semesters that I spent in Delhi before the COVID outbreak helped me develop a strong personality and character. I participated in various open mics and performed some of the hip-hop music that I write in my free time. I was a part of the Theatre Club of my department, playing one of the supporting characters in the French version of the short story "Le fantôme de Canterville" (English: The Canterville Ghost). I also took part in the Annual Francophone Day inter-university story writing competition and won the third prize for the story "Le son du silence" (English: The Sound of the Silence). Lately, I have been enjoying teaching French to some young apprentices for approximately 5-6 months now and have done some content writing work for individuals and websites. When I'm not doing anything overly productive, I tend to enjoy talking with my penfriends over the internet, making music, or reading a piece of fiction.

I aspire that my study in languages and linguistics help me to be the bridge, an intersection in people's differences and similarities in viewpoints and thought processes, or perhaps in someone's broad understanding and other's unhurried comprehension. To quote Nelson Mandela: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”

CAREER GOALS:

I have a working idea about what I want to achieve in the next 3-5 years of my life. These are merely stepping stones that may help one to achieve simplistic glory. As I like to focus mostly on two to three things at a time, right now my attention is focused on acquiring knowledge in the French language and literature. To speak, write and think like a native and get well-versed with the language in itself. Recently I have started teaching myself Japanese. I can read Hiragana and Katakana, for now, handling Kanji would be the next big objective. Meanwhile, my ability to code in Python is getting better with each passing day and this gives me an enormous amount of confidence to better prepare myself for the corporate world. Through this internship provided by Modlingua, I am aiming to acquire admirable translation and interpretation capabilities and know the use of certain CAT tools that are said to have enormous importance for language learners.

I am keen on exploring the more written aspects of language learning in translation and creative writing. I'm also drawn towards the audio and audio-visual mediums. Platforms like radio, television, voice-over, journalism, or even live interpretation could be great unexplored opportunities which I’m willing to give a shot since speaking has been a relatively huge part of my experience as an Anchor and News Reader for the school. I plan to do a diploma in Data Analytics after learning Python to remain on top of the demands of the growing market. To widen the horizon, I must talk about the farsightedness of my plans. Having helped hundreds of people in a gesture of modesty during donation ventures organized by school and after having experienced the trauma and horror of the pandemic, I aspire and hope to take the initiative of an NGO in the future to help the people who can’t afford life-sustaining facilities.
