Brief Profile

 I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's in French and Francophone studies from Doon University. I have done my schooling with commerce as my main subject in both the 10th and 12th standards. After having completed 12th, I decided to change my path, to leave all behind, and to immerse myself in the world of languages.

I decided to revolve my career around it for many reasons, firstly, the ability to speak another language, the power to express yourself in different words just fascinate me. Lastly, I believe a career in languages be it a translator or a teacher is excellent and fruitful. So, for all these reasons I selected this course and chose French as my major because I have always been impressed by French literature be it Molière’s or Albert Camus’s work. Since my childhood, I have always been an active kid and have participated in various competitions. Being an organized and hardworking student, I always stick to my work and execute it in the best way possible. I am a self-motivated and disciplined person who is always eager to learn new things. In my free time, I like to paint, draw, read, and write. I want to explore what life is offering me. I am looking forward to working with Modlingua where I will learn amazing new things which will all help me to strengthen my career

Career goal

Learning another language is not just only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things-Flora Lewis.

In every stage of my life, I have always had a different career plan in my mind whether it was to become an astronaut at the age of 10, an archaeologist at age of 12, a painter at the age of 14, or a chartered accountant at the age of 18.

I have completed both my 10th and 12th with commerce as my main subject in school. If someone would have asked me 2 years ago that what are your career plans, I would have said the chartered accountant. I was good with numbers and business studies and always scored good marks.

 However, I never felt content with it, somewhere in my heart, I knew that I wanted to learn a foreign language as I always found myself attracted to it. I have always been amazed by different words for the same things, different ways to express our ideas and emotions be it happiness, sadness, or surprise. Language is an art and we are the artist. So, after having completed my 12th, I came to know that I have an excellent opportunity to pursue a bachelor's in French and Francophone studies. So I decided to leave all behind and hence took admission to Doon University in the year 2019.

As of right now, I am about to complete my 2nd year and I will not lie language learning since day one has been a very tough journey. The time, the patience level, the hard work, all its demands are challenging but it's all worth it. I am totally satisfied and happy with my career choice. Over time, I discovered I have two very keen interests in this field, the first one being translation and the second one is teaching. So, I have decided to pursue a career in one of these fields.

I choose translation because I love and respect the idea, the process of converting one language to another. It is due to the translation that we have an opportunity to read some wonderful works of litterateur such as The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry or The Diary of Anne Frank. If there would have been no translation of books, we never would have known the real world. Whereas, I choose to teach because I love to explain and I want to help people to discover themselves. I want to follow my methodology to teach different students, to make them aware of the beauty of languages. Finally, I believe that all the time and efforts that I am putting into language learning can be made worth it if I will work in either of these fields in the upcoming future. I understand that how challenging these two fields can be but I am ready to immerse myself into the world of languages and to tackle the challenge which it brings.

My short-term goal is to join Modlingua's summer internship program of 2021. Since I believe it will be an excellent platform for me. It will allow me to shape my skills and enhance my knowledge. I will learn those new things and new techniques which are not being taught in our academic institutions and all this will help me to take my future in the right direction.

My long-term goal is to pursue a Master's program from France or any Francophone country as it will be a great opportunity for me to improve my communication and writing skills. Living in a different culture, tasting a different cuisine, learning new things, will all be beneficial for me. Besides, I also want to (and to even open one later in life) an NGO in the future, which works for the betterment of the transgender community or children in The slums areas. I want to help them in every way possible.
