Brief Profile

Hi(你好)!My name is Akansha (许愿).I am an enthusiastic Chinese linguist, currently pursuing my B. A Hons in Chinese language and culture from Doon University.

My major in high school was Accounting and Finance. So I also possess intermediate-level knowledge of subjects like Economics and Business management as well.

I was always fascinated by foreign languages, especially Asian languages so when I got the opportunity to pursue my passion, I decided to make it my profession. I choose to study the Chinese language as my major.

My experience so far as a language learner has been different at different time spans. Yes, Chinese is a difficult language, to begin with, but I think it’s necessary to undertake challenges to step out of your comfort zone. So I undertook this one. I think as you start learning and dedicate yourself to the process you will soon start to enjoy it as I did. I also think that language learning opens a whole new world of growth opportunities in front of you. Recently I also tried learning a computer language as well i.e. C++

Over the span of three years, I not only learned the language but have gained extensive knowledge about China's history, culture, and also about India-China historic relations. Other than language learning I was part of the University Theatre club"Dramebaaz", which not only helped me with my public speaking skills but also enhanced my team management and team leading skills. I also participated in the annual University fest “BAZM” and department fest"Chun Jie"(Chinese New Year), took the initiative of gathering interested candidates for creating the University Girls Cricket Team. My interest in economics and my responsibilities towards society made me part of the Econo Speak NGO, which works for children's welfare. In my free time other than language learning, I like reading books, photo editing, and dancing.

Career Goals

My short-term goal is to maintain my position in the top ten students of my batch while I graduate.

With this internship, I aim to work on my translation and interpretation skills and want to dive deep into the world of translation and interpretation in various domains like technical, legal, literary, and others as well under the guidance of Ravi Sir.

My ultimate goal is to keep on learning languages. I am looking forward to learning the Japanese language next. I aim to be part of a reputed organization like Modlingua where I can get more opportunities to grow professionally.
