Dayanna Gonçalves
She holds a B.A. in Languages and Literature, (English and Portuguese Studies) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) since 2015 and went to a Healthcare Administration Vocational School from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation during High School. She is a Brazilian Portuguese native speaker and fluent English speaker, having achieved a 610/677 score at the TOEFL ITP test in 2014.
As a freelance translator, Dayanna has worked mostly with academic texts, from Psychology and Engineering areas and general texts. She also has experience with guides and handbooks to activists as a volunteer translator at the International Amnesty. I work well with schedules and deadlines; and I am a quick learner concerning both computer tools and translation improvements.
Apart from her love of literature that drove her to her Languages and Literature BA, she has an interest in Linguistics theories, sociology, philosophy, history and a passion for classic Hollywood and the arts in general, specially music and cinema. She has a published article about the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalia and her final paper at college was a parallel between Buster Keaton’s movie The General and Álvaro de Campos’ poem Ode Triunfal.
Dayanna is an intern at Modlingua focusing in building her strength in project management and quality standards, business development, entrepreneurship and social media marketing. Her main objective is to develop a full-time translator and proofreader career.
