Why are quality standards important? What is the importance of the feedback mechanism in the quality control process? Does Modlingua Rubric provide provision for any feedback?

We should understand the meaning of the Quality Control Standards. Quality Control Standards is a process to make sure that the company meets the minimum requirements of the customer. But we make sure that the aim of this process is not just about profits and loss or to defeat a competitor. It's about safety, delivering on a promise and meeting the very basics of customer's expectations. High-Quality Standards helps us to keep up customer's contentment and loyalty. Moreover, it reduces the risk and cost of replacing faulty ones and assists to build the reputation. Standards are the essential element of quality management systems and the companies use standards to satisfy customer quality requirements but there are some others factors are there like: to make certain that the products and services are safe and reliable to use, to follow with rules and regulation at lower cost and ponder the environmental aims. Also, by maintaining high-quality standards of manufactured products they can be shipped to other countries. Quality standards applied to increase our efficiency and delivering to the client.

Now, the question arises that how do we maintain or control the quality standards? In the quality control standards process, there are 3 methods: IQC, IPQC, and OQC.

IQC -> IPQC ->  OQC

Incoming Quality Control: a process to inspect the raw material from the supplier upon arrival. We need to negotiate with the supplier for return or exchange when the detective part is found and make sure that quality should not be affected.

In Process Quality Control: it refers to the quality control during the assembly process and it is important because we can detect and handle the problem that occurs ahead of time.
Outgoing Quality Control: it refers to the inspection of product before dispatch.

As I have mentioned above that quality control standards are essential in every field. Therefore quality can be defined in terms of translation as capturing and conveying the information accurately. On the other hand, a poor quality translation could cause loss of business. There are two types of quality translation:-

- Process Oriented
- Metric Oriented

In the Process Oriented, we focus on establishing and maintaining a process of translation, revise and approval by qualified professionals and ensure to reach the results that meet customer's expectation.

In the Metric Oriented, we focus on establishing real quality metric which can help in measuring and rate translation as high or low quality.

Translation teams with glossaries, style guides, support materials, and contextual information can produce higher quality than those who have a text with no background. The quality can be maintained with some tools like Grammarly which allows us to check the spelling, detect inconsistency, punctuation or formatting errors, multiple spaces, and repeated words. Translation standards directly linked to terminology management that happens to a particular company or industry. Good or bad translation is judged from a reference point. Translators have access to the term base. By using standards, we can reduce the variations and errors. Therefore, during the quality assessment translators must always check whether the term base exists or not.

Not only quality standards are important but also customer feedback plays a crucial role in success, no matter whether we receive a negative or a positive response it will help us to understand our customers better. Therefore, for the same reason feedback is a fundamental part of an equation and the paramount to the overall success of the organization.

We can only be assured about the quality when it meets the needs of our customers or clients. However, we cannot do that without being aware of the problems of our customers may have.

We should understand at least the following three methods:-

Surveys
Performance reviews
Customer interviews

The main priority is to fix their problems and send a message that we are truly customer-oriented. Customers are responsible for the growth and the only way through which we can determine the quality control standards is by their feedback. The person providing the feedback should make sure that the other person is comprehending his valuable feedback.

Feedback actually motivates the employee to perform better and create better work relations. Feedback is often judged as criticism. However, negative criticism is constructive criticism and can help to formulate better decisions for improving performance.

During the second session of my Internship, which was very helpful and I got the opportunity to learn quality standards in the world of corporate and as a translator. The session on Modlingua Rubric taught me how to diminish the possibilities of errors and improve the performance. Hence, helped in building good sense regarding the business relationship in translation with the help of AI tools like Grammarly.
