REPORT ON SUMMER INTERNSHIP AT MODLINGUA

This summer internship at modlingua is my first internship, and it is a lot more than i thought it would be, in the best way possible. so far, I have already gained many skills, and i have learned more about different translation and about this industry.  my internship experience at the modlingua was amazing. as a student I was extremely honoured to get the opportunity to work as an intern for this organization. it has been the most rewarding and motivational experiences I have had during my time as a student at central university of Jharkhand. I want to say thank you Mr. Ravi Kumar for allowing me to have this incredible experience. modlingua is an iso 9001 certified translation, training and language service delivery company based in new Delhi. it always gives a reliable and quality conscious translation services, modlingua has some of the best people of the language and translation industry. this internship has led me to be the person i am today. from college classes to work experiences, i now have the ability to exceed upon internship experiences that can shape my perspective on life. i was given the internship only being 18 years of age, i learned the value of appreciating the opportunities i get in life and making a good first impression. for instance, in the beginning i was afraid, but modlingua team supported and helped me a lot during these 2 months and supervised me throughout my internship experience, i can say that it helped came out of my "comfort" zone. as an intern, i also gained a better understanding of the banking industry, made a new network, and gained a few new references for the future. but most importantly, i gained a new sense of professionalism and a clearer view of what it meant to be in the professional world. so, i would advise everyone to take the opportunity and do an internship, even if it is not necessarily in the industry that you wish to work in. there is much to gain from it on both a professional and personal level. throughout the course of internship, I was allowed to participate in three workshops. work that i have done so far includes writing several blogs including different topics. i have been working with very talented people, who helped me to grow. this internship has given me even more real-world experience than I had before this experience and how i can use my skills to help in various ways. it helped me develop my vocabulary and writing skills in the starting I had many problems while writing the essays but the team guided me in the places I lacked and after few assignments I found myself comfortable in writing long essays by myself. in the starting I was not interested in translation industry but as the internship continued, I found myself slowly but steadily I grew to enjoy the process.  this internship also helped me develop my network and connect to many other experienced people who have spent a lot of time in this industry. learning from other’s changed my perspective of my career goals and I came to know more what more I can do with my skills and how they can be applied in an industry, Mr. Ravi Kumar also hosted live sessions in which he shared his knowledge with us. there were workshops held and we got the chance to attend all of them, the first webinar “social media and leveraging network” with Dr. Amit Nagpal as a guest. he shared the importance of having networks in this any industry and also about the ways to increase your network in industry. I personally enjoyed this workshop the most and learned different things. the second webinar was about artificial intelligence (ai), nlp and their importance in translation with special guest speaker Mr deep, Saxena who is a specialist in artificial intelligence and data science explained the structure on which artificial intelligence works. he explained in detail neural networks and natural language processing and various types of specialized branches of artificial intelligence. he later dealt with nlp in detail that deals with the automated translation as well as hybrid translation deployed by various translation tools. it becomes very clear from the above discussion that these tools play a key role in language business and content development, and that these tools are very useful for languages specialists as well as translators. by using these tools, the translators and language professionals can do wonders by delivering their work effectively in less time. I remembered the last session was about customer management services and it was a good session on how to tackle customers who are not genuine in their intents and purposes. with the detailed information and tricks of the trade learnt in is session, and i know that it will definitely help in the long run. the most important lesson was it’s okay to make mistakes. this one was especially difficult beginning. all my life, i have considered myself a perfectionist, because i continuously strive to do my best. and honestly, i do not like to fail. whether i was starting a new job or playing a new sport, i set a high standard for myself and expected to excel right away. while this can be a good thing because it motivates me to work harder, it also affects my perspective on self-worth. the fact that i constantly compare myself to others doesn’t make it any better, either. i often had to step back and remind myself that all of my co-interns in the office started from the bottom at some point in their career. if i had a dollar for every mistake i made during my first few weeks as an intern, i could probably pay my rent for the rest of the year. from not tagging the right account on social media posts, to forgetting to send an important email, to the countless grammatical errors i overlooked in a blog, i beat myself up about all of them. the good thing about making mistakes though, is they become lessons learned. mistakes are inevitable, but how you choose to recover from them is what really matters in the long run. the purpose of an internship is to grow and learn, so by the time you have a full-time job, those mistakes hopefully won’t be made. interns are like a work in progress, and we are bound to be a little rough around the edges. not everyone is going to see eye to eye or agree with your designs/ideas—even people on your own team! you will need to make changes once, twice, and sometimes 10 times. no matter how many changes happen, you can’t take it personally because a majority of the time the changes will improve the product in the end.  have always been one to ask lots of questions to ensure i know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it. let’s be honest. at the beginning, i didn’t know how to do lots of things. but, as an overthinker, i was always concerned about being annoying or bothersome. it did not take long for me to understand that my supervisor and team members were not only there to help, but they wanted to help. they wanted me to succeed. after all, an internship is a learning experience, and the best way for me to learn is by asking questions. if my supervisor was in a meeting or not available at the moment, there was always someone on the team that i could turn to that was willing to help. i gained deeper insights into the audit industry and it has helped me significantly with my career planning. i developed a better understanding of the career path of an auditor through the internship, helping me to make an informed career decision. my biggest takeaway would be the new long-term relationships and connections which I had forged with my colleagues and fellow interns at modlingua. at the end i want to conclude this by saying that i had a wonderful and engaging time at modlingua and sometime it is good to do something out of your comfort zone and explore different fields even if you don’t much knowledge regarding it, thank you for this great internship!
