Priyanka Shukla

My name is Priyanka Shukla, Research Scholar from Department of Linguistics, School of Humanities, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. I did my Bachelors from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi with honours in Home Science along with English, Hindi, and History of Arts. From the beginning, I was interested in languages than literature. I am quite passionate about translation especially from English to Hindi. I have a keen interest in fields of research-oriented translations, media and social studies. I have my masters from Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Computational Linguistics with a key focus on computer programming, translation system and electronic dictionary. I did my M.Phill in Hindi (Language Technology). At present, I am in the 5^th year of my research as PhD scholar. My research topic is “Linguistic Landscaping In Indian Metro Cities.” Apart from that I also possess a special experience of working in North-East India. Thus it helped in developing a keen interest in Language Documentation in Endangered language Policy. Along with my Research, I have PG Diploma in Translation from IGNOU.

Career Goals

I am a confident lady who feels life has always something to give. It gives you with the opportunity to learn and understand from others. I like exploring new places and learn their culture, understanding the language society and communicate the same with the masses through my writing. I had done minor Translation work for the department which I personally found interesting. My aim is to join academics and learn different languages either Indian or foreign languages. I have interest in working with languages. At present, I am working with Sign Boards and their languages. As writing is my passion research fulfils my dream. I think learning key aspects of translation from your institute will help me to harness my skills and will fuel my passion as a translator. After my PhD, I want to do Post Doc from Germany.

I want to join Modlingua family because it provides the best platform for researchers in the various field to get the glimpse of professional ethics of translation along with the much-needed experience in the field.
