This edited transcription records remarks by Ana Isabel Reguillo and Ravi Kumar at the International Conference on Translation, hosted by Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi on 16 April 2009. The event was organised by Modlingua and the Indian Translators Association. It is a historical account, not an announcement of current translation funding or projects.

Grammar and punctuation have been edited for readability. Unclear words and names are marked rather than guessed.
A translation bridge between India and Spain
Ana Isabel Reguillo, then Education Head at Instituto Cervantes:
Some of you, I recognise, are working on a project of [agency name unclear in the submitted transcript]. This is a Government of Spain project to promote translation from the languages of India into Spanish. It started in 2008. I hope translations from Bengali, Tamil and Hindi into Spanish will be coming soon.
The Government of Spain, through this agency, and the Embassy of Spain have budgets allocated for translations of different types of documents.
Welcoming the workshop participants
Before we continue, we would like to thank everyone who has come from all over India, as well as our colleagues from abroad. This is your house. We moved here only a month ago, so please accept our apologies in advance if you encounter any inconvenience, such as the air conditioning being too cold or other technical problems.
I would now like to pass the floor to the coordinator of this workshop and of the meetings tomorrow and the following day, Mr Ravi Kumar. Thank you.
Ravi Kumar's acknowledgements
Ravi Kumar:
I express my sincere thanks to Ana and to His Excellency the Ambassador of Cuba, who has agreed to be our chief guest and to honour our activities by supporting the actions we have taken so far.
I must acknowledge the contribution of [institution name unclear in the submitted transcript] to this workshop. They have not only provided support but have stood behind our activities and supported us through all their means.
I would also like to thank our guest speakers who have come from Austria and Malaysia to strengthen our activities, making their own arrangements to visit India. I extend my special thanks to the professor described here as a pioneer in translation theory, and to the other international guests. [Several names and organisational titles in this part of the submitted transcript are unclear.]
Strengthening the translation community together
Above all, I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has come from different parts of India to strengthen our activities and to be with us for the next three days.
It is important to mention that, because of limited human resources at the Indian Translators Association, we may not always have reached you in the way you wanted. My humble request is that you understand we are still growing. Our strength will come when you join us and join hands.
