Planning is key to handle your business successfully. Every business and startups need to have a written and documented business plan. That plan provides direction to do our activities; it also helps us to attract investors. A business plan is vital for the success of any business organization. There are some steps to follow for creating a business as follow:
- To-Do Research: if you are thinking about starting a new business that means you already have any idea or plan to work on it. Now you have to do a quick research on exiting companies that are working in the same industry you have planned to in. you have to know the current situation of the industry and what exiting companies are offering. Think something different that other companies are not doing and make your new innovative plan.
- Writing a business plan: once you have done your research now it’s time to write a business plan that you have thought while researching it.
- To Choose the name of your company: Choosing the name is very important as there are a lot of companies working in the same field, so we have to choose a name that suits to our products and services we have to keep in mind the availability of the same domain name and registration of the company.
- Legal Formalities and website creation: After choosing the name of the company next step is to fulfill all legal formalities that are required to run the company. And the creation of the website for the company, the website should be a nice look and feel. This can be done by approaching any web developer.
- Set Up Your Company Office: The next step is setting the office of the company, choosing a place of business office is important for the operation of the business. You will also have to think about the types of equipment, the overall setup that is needed for your company.
- Get Your Team Ready for work: The next step is to hire employees to start your business process. You will also have to decide on the different positions that you need in your company. You may also contact any consultancy for the same purpose.
- Promotion of Your Business: The next step is advertising and promotion of the business. Once the business is up and started running so all you need is to start promoting it and try to attract clients and customers. Here we can use different tools and techniques to promote our business as we studied, like offline marketing, online marketing, pull and push marketing, email marketing, etc.
Executing the Plan
Some may assume that the hardest thing about any business plan is the thinking and creating innovative ideas, but the reality is that executing any plan is harder than its creation. Most entrepreneurship fails not because of bad ideas, but because of poor implementation and execution of the plan.
Suppose I plan to establish a company that will provide language solutions that include translation, interpretation, language teaching, content writing, editing, and subtitling. I have chosen a name for my company that is “Lingua Assistant” with the theme “We Link You with the World”. I have also checked the availability of the domain name. I will fulfill the registration procedure and contact a web developer and have my company website. I have also created a team of management. I have also had a group of translators who have experience in different languages.
Now I will promote my company through the different online platforms using push and Pull or AIDA model and try to get a project and build new clients and customers. Whenever I will get any project so, I will try to manage it using different means as follows:
- Wise Judgment: The project manager will use his/her experience, or wise judgment to influence decisions on the current project. In most of the cases, the project manager handles the entire project management team very wisely to execute the project successfully.
- Using Analytical Tools: There are many analytical tools and the project manager can use them to identify the performance of the project. Some of these analytical tools are regression analysis, causal analysis, and earned value management. The project manager can use them to track a project's performance.
- Manage Issues: As a process, issue management aims to resolve any issues affecting the success of a project. This process takes a range of steps which are to identify issues, assess their impact, develop resolution actions, take those actions, and track progress on issues.
- Meetings: Meetings can be face to face, virtually, formal, or informal, and can include project team members, executives, and stakeholders. Meetings are very useful to control the project process because stakeholders can discuss the issues and control them.
- Risk Register: A risk register is a document that manages risks and records associated with known risks.
- Performing quality control: while doing quality control it is possible to confirm that the product is being completed and developed in line with expectations. Quality control starts when a project is initiated and lasts throughout the entire project life-cycle until the product is developed and handed over to the customer.
- Tracking work Progress: This step is very important for monitoring, measuring, and controlling progress on the project. The purpose of tracking the work progress is to ensure that project work is being done as per schedule. The project manager needs to track work progress at any given stage to make sure the project goes in the right direction.
Suppose a company contacted us for a translation project. The company wants to get its documents translated within 4 days, which have about 30000 words from English to Arabic. Now before accepting the project we first see its feasibility by time, scope, quality, and cost. After assessing the project we will divide the work among several professionals and skilled people or teams. We can create a translation team of 5 people and every translator will translate 2000 words per day. We also make another team for quality management, which will start checking the quality of the translation just after its completion by a translator.
After doing the processes we will lead the project team effectively and communicate with them well and we will ask all the participants of the project to complete their works. When executing processes are completed so we have done our project and we will close the project and receive our reward.
