Body language is a vital form of communication, where your movements and gestures are what shows if you are interested, approachable, engaged and open or if you lack confidence, are nervous, impatient or bored. These are the subtle cues that we send or receive to each other nonverbally. Therefore, it is important to have some control over your own body language as well as to become skilled at reading others as it can be your key to greater success in your life.

Working as an intern for a startup company, wherein, I had to visit different offices and pitch in for our company, gave me an opportunity to meet people and study them to evaluate if they were interested or not simply by watching their body language. I was fortunate enough to enhance my nonverbal communication abilities and know the importance of positive body language that makes you look sure of yourself.

As quoted by John C Maxwell, “People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude”, body language when properly used, helps you bond with your teammates better, develop positive business relationships and have a bigger impact. It is a very powerful tool to project confidence, credibility, and to connect better with others.

Posture breeds success. Your audience’s first impression of you is your posture and your position and so it’s important to know positive body language. Your body language, your eyes, your energy will come through to your audience before you even start speaking. Keeping your posture erect, your shoulders back and your head held high could make you look sure of yourself. Body language is your superpower. You can either use it wisely or waste it on random and distracting gestures.
