Translation and Interpretation is a profession that needs much more skills in order to gain employment. To be recognized in a field which is for any bilingual person , needs networking which opens up endless possibilities and job opportunities.The emergence of social media has made networking much more easy and effortless . It promotes us online and helps in finding work easily . For example – Linkedin and Facebook are creating various opportunities for professionals to promote themselves . People should take advantage of these sites . To grow your employment opportunities , a translator should grow or increase their online presence . This also opens up the door to become freelance translators . A website is a great way to have all the relevant information about yourself and your services at one place . This can help in building a community of people who are interested in our services .
Therefore , I strongly feel that we translators should learn the basics of networking and team work . As we need to sale or promote ourselves and for that we need to interact with others to exchange information and develop professional and social contacts . This is what networking is about . As a translator we must understand the power of team work , unity and the mass tries to reach its target on the condition that we know about the target which is to be achieved . Once we gather this information we can work collectively ( translating the perspective of the masses).
ANTS AND TRANSLATORS
Ants who live in colonies ( large group consisting of millions of ants ). They are able to work effectively because they work together and they do not have leaders .In an ant colony , different ants have different team roles but their goal is same for the good and betterment of the colony . As a translator we can not only learn networking and team work from ants but they teach us lot more skills like – Ants are never intimidated by the size of their workload; they value team work and they are organized.
In relation with ants not only translators but each and every professional who work as a team should have an organized approach to work and problem solving .We should have the power of cooperation which leads to unity ( key to success ).If united, a group can move the mountains for the achievement of their goal .
MODLINGUA AND ITS TEAM
As a language professional, I personally can leverage my strength with Modlingua and its team because I am a team player and I love working in teams and having group discussions . It expands our knowledge by letting others to speak and share their point of views. Under the Modlingua team each and every intern have a different team roles but everyone is working for the same goal i.e the betterment of the organization and through this we are learning networking , team work and lot more .
