I think that translators should learn the basics of networking and team work from ants. Because networking helps us in showing our professionalism and knowledge. Nowadays social media has made networking much easier. LinkedIn, Facebook, etc are the best platform which we can take advantage of. It has become important to promote yourself online. As a translator promoting yourself online is a great way to reach a wider audience. Networking helps us to connect with the audience of the same field. It can be a great way to get in touch with local, national or International colleagues. Through networking we can exchange information among groups and institutions, etc. Through networking we can also meet other translators and learn a lot from them which can help in our career development. Just like networking teamwork is also important for a translator.

If you work in a team then you can learn a lot from each other. The other translator can check your translation and give you some suggestion. You can also check translation of another translator. This will not only help in improving your knowledge of translation but it will also distribute to work and it will be easy for a translator if they will work in team. We can distribute the work among themselves who will do the translation and after that checking and other things.

I think the perfect example of networking and teamwork is Modlingua. I am working as an intern under Modlingua. It is helping me in expanding my networking. The interactions with our mentor and the assignments all are helping me in developing my professional skills in translation. Earlier I was thinking for translation you just have to translate the text but after working with Modlingua I have learnt that there are lots more than just translation. There are many things such as Computer Assisted Tools (CAT Tools), Project Management and quality Standards, Blogging, Entrepreneurship, Business Development etc. All these will help in developing our professional skills in translation. And I think after working with Modlingua I will develop as a language professional. And when I will work as a freelance translator or as a translator in some company, the knowledge which I will gain in Modlingua will help me a lot. So I can say that translators should learn the basics of networking and teamwork from ants. It helps a translator a lot in his or her growth.
