Linguistics as a profession
Till now, people wonder about what linguists do for their living. But being a linguist, various research and career possibilities are open for them . Professional linguists work in various fields. Language educators may also teach their native or a foreign language at any level. Linguists are not only restricted to teaching. They also develop educational materials, train language teachers, and find a means to assess acquisition and teach language more effectively. Because linguists know the working of any language, though they do not know every language they do know the structure of it. This is why it is easy for them to learn any language. Not only in the field of teaching or academics but translators /interpreters/linguists can also work for the government, businesses, courtrooms, hospitals, schools, etc. These are just a handful of the opportunities open to language professionals, other opportunities are available in publishing, law, national security, medicine, editing dictionaries, and the film industry.

Yes, I definitely feel that Entrepreneurship is also a good career option for language professionals. According to my students who speak foreign languages, travel, and understand other cultures have a unique entrepreneurial opportunity. It will encourage you to look at your year abroad in a more critical and innovative way, to be aware of business opportunities, and to make use of the start-up support networks and services available to you when you start your first business.
VALUE OF LANGUAGES AND INTERCULTURAL SKILLS IN BUSINESS
The most important global competency for a business professional is the ability to work collaboratively with teams of people from a range of backgrounds and countries. Understanding foreign languages and having intercultural skills are crucial factors in achieving this competency. If you can communicate your ideas to team members of different nationalities, you are the bridge between their languages and cultures. This is a very desirable skill for global business leaders, as they need employees who are able to compete in global marketplaces.
