Petros Ghirmay Hadish

Hello, my name is Petros Ghirmay Hadish. Currently, I am working as a full-time freelance translator from English<>Tigrinya. I got my Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Asmara. Besides, I learnt the French language till level 5 in Alliance Francaise, Asmara, I have also taken short course Certificate Course in Writing for a Global Market, April 2015, canvas network.

Beside this, I work as UN online Volunteer, May 2013, UNDP Equator Initiative. I proofread Abrha Weatsbha Natural Resource Management Initiative a Case Studies by EQUATOR INITIATIVE (UNV) and I am active Member of Association of Eritreans in Agriculture Sciences (AEAS).

I was working in the ministry of Agriculture as Animal Science Expert for four years. I was following up field activities and progressiveness, and I used to conduct and coordinate Training; Meetings session and provided agricultural advice for target farmers. I like reading books and researching. I spend same times every day in reading and internet research. I like painting and drowning. Most of the books that I read are about art and translation.

Career Goals

I am looking forward to a career in translation project management and translation from French to English. I am interested in language service even though I am working only as a translator but I want to know more about translation industry so that I will start in my future career in project management.

My short-term goal is by increasing my experience in project management. I will start a career in translation project management and continue my education in French. This can help me remain up-to-date and current with my profession, therefore, I want to invest in something that can truly improve my career.

I want to become known as an expert in my field by specialization in marketing and technical translation. I want to attend professional development courses in those fields to familiarize myself as an expert in those areas. I believe having the relevant theoretical knowledge coupled with specializing in only one or three areas makes me productive.

My long-term goal is to start my own business, which is a language service that serves as translation agency for African language. As I am a visionary and have an entrepreneurial mind I definitely need to start my own business. However, to avoid having my business fails I want to make sure that I have all the skills and knowledge required before I take the leap.

At last, my career goal can be summarized as - Start the career as a project management professional, improve my French knowledge by continuing my education, get specialization in marketing and technical translation, and start my own translation agency which will provide services for African languages.
