Brief Profile

Hello my name is Arianna from the island of Trinidad and Tobago, currently residing in Brooklyn, NY of the United States. I have always been interested in learning languages, particularly Spanish and French, since my first year at high school up until the present day. What interests me the most about languages is that being bilingual, broadens your perspective of the world extensively, and it allows you to be more aware of social issues that are going on around you.

I am a graduating senior, who is pursuing a certificate in Translation and Interpreting, and I would like to learn as much as possible for trained professionals in the field, about tactics and how to build up my brand as a translator. In addition, I will be receiving my Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish and French, and I plan to use my language skills heavily in my career, as I aspire to be a TESOL teacher, who travels the world teaching English. Also, I would love one day to pursue my masters in translation and interpreting abroad. I have a strong passion for translating, especially literary translating because I have had experience in doing so from English to Spanish, as well as Spanish to English, and it is very fulfilling to know that more and more language communities can indulge in a literary journey and that their language does not inhibit them. Besides my academic life, I have a passion for spreading knowledge about language as well as language learning. I would love to work with an NPO in order to bridge the gap between culture and language, in order to build stronger communities.
