Brief Profile
I am Rima Arafeh from Syria. I am a graduate of the Intermediate Institute of Statistic, Damascus University.
I worked as a Bilingual Executive Secretary for eight years in Damascus. My work involved a lot of translation (English <> Arabic), but it was mostly business-related.
I moved to Egypt after the war in Syria, and I worked as a freelance Data Entry & Subtitling Specialist from home, because I had to take care of my two little kids.
Last year I decided to work on improving my translation skills. So I attended specialized English courses at the British Council, and soon I will finish the upper intermediate level and start the advanced level.
In the meanwhile, I've been training in translation with my teacher (and sister) who is a professional translator for many years. The translation is one of my passions, and this is the power that is keeping me going.
Also, I was a volunteer teacher in UNHCR program for refugee kids.
Career Goals
I am a self-motivated person and believe that everyone should develop new skills.
By joining this internship with MODLINGUA, I hope to gain a lot of skills and experience, to understand the industry of translation, and, consequently, to take my skills to the next level and start working as a professional translator and linguist. I am determined to work hard and learn all I need to be a successful linguist with a satisfied client base.
