Profile

Writing a profile for a job is actually a hard and a long process. I read a lot of profiles of the past interns of your company even some from other companies, googled it. But I couldn’t come across the best way to put myself in front of you and then I saw a theory about deception which says “most people lie while introducing themselves…” I realized I was going to do the same. So, it may not be the best profile but at least it’s “me”. I present to you myself, Akansha Jaiswal student in the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi, pursuing French Hons. Prior to French, I never had any interest in learning a new language. I wanted to pursue law after school but my fate had decided differently and so my journey begin of discovering a foreign language.

In these 2 years, my life is all around French, its culture, cuisine even liaison now fascinates me. Through French I discovered the artist in me, I participated and won 2nd prize for bande dessinée (comic strip) in the confluence organized by the University of Delhi to celebrate Francophonie day. I also made a short film along with my friends consecutively for 2 years for the same event. Along with French, I’m deeply connected to Korean. In my past time, I like watching K-dramas and I’m a huge fan of K-Pop band “BTS”. I’m also learning Portuguese as a general elective offered in the department.

In terms of qualities, I am a hardworking and devoted person. I believe in giving my best and finishing one task before starting others. As this year’s theme for Modlingua’s summer internship is “group work” I’ll try my best to create a friendly atmosphere and would promote the team spirit.

My career goals

As a student who’s soon going to be in the last year of graduation one of the most important question, everybody loves to ask and in fact, sometimes I ask it to myself is about what I’m going to in the future? How do I see myself in 5 or 10 years? When I was in school all I planned about was law but I ended up learning French. If I could explain my experience with French in one word it would be “unexpected”. From unexpectantly learning it to adapting it and to finally fall in love with it, and so in my future full of uncertainties, one thing I’m certain about is French.

In the short term, I want to have this internship, be more fluent in French, and to work on my Instagram page: chemin_creatif for French students which I’ve created along with my university friends. Last but not least I want to learn another foreign language, specifically Korean.

In the long term, I want to teach French to Koreans or vice-versa which might seem very complicated but what I see is that as French is the most studied language among students knowing only French in the long run won’t suffice and as I’m a koreaboo I want to use both the languages and create a fusion between the two. My second goal is to then promote my maternal language “Hindi” in the two countries.

Lastly, I want to mention that this internship would help kick start my career and help me accomplish both my short and long term goals. Thus I wish to work with Modlingua.
