BRIEF PROFILE
My name is Anindita Saha and I'm a student currently doing a bachelor's in French from the University of Delhi. I have been in contact with the language for nine years now, since my school, Delhi Public School, Dwarka provided us with the choice of a third language in the fourth grade.
I'm currently associated with 'LevelApp' as an academic tutor i.e I teach French to school students online. Other than this, I have experience in teaching from my past internships with 'Teach for India' and 'Pehchaan: The street school' where I taught students from a government school in Saket and kids from the slum areas respectively.
Moreover, I am serving as a content writer with the website of 'Herald Journalism' as an intern for two months, which shall get over on 28th May 2020.
The experiences that I gained in the past have made me realize the importance of hard work, punctuality, and honesty. They have made me a more responsible person. I look forward to learning new things from this internship to challenge my capabilities and improve my quality of work. Given an opportunity, I will make sure I make the most out of it. This chance will surely help me take one step forward towards my dream of becoming a university professor and a social worker eventually while still staying connected to the French language.
CAREER GOALS
Being an Indian kid, your relatives play an important role in your life. For me, they were the reason I began my quest to find the perfect career for me in order to be able to respond to their question about my future goals. While many ideas came across my mind; from becoming an astronaut to an actor to a psychologist, when school finally got over and it was time to apply for colleges, the gravity of my decision dawned on me. It was time to think about not only what interested me, but also what I was good at. The answer was simple: French, which had stuck by me for seven years from 4th grade onwards when I chose it to be my third language in school. So, when I filled my DU Application form for French honors, I knew that if it had managed to be with me for seven long years, it surely would continue to help me for the rest of my life. That was enough for me to take the proverbial plunge.
It was on my first day of college that I decided to be a French professor. I still remember how my professor inspired me with her impeccable command over the language and her innovative teaching methods. I firmly believe that if I manage to inspire even one student sitting in my class to that extent, my job as a teacher will be fulfilled.
The next question was, am I even good at teaching? While searching for an answer, I came across ‘LevelApp’, an online medium to teach French to school students. I have been associated with it for almost a year now and it has only deepened my love for teaching.
Yet another opportunity that I came across during this period was an internship with ‘Teach for India’ where I was tasked with teaching students of a government school in Saket. That one month convinced me of the need to serve others and inclined me towards community work as well. As of now, my goal, post my graduation, is to do a Diploma in Social Work along with a Master’s degree in French so that I’m qualified to work with the ECOSOC under the UN later in life to bring about a positive change in the world.
