Brief Profile

Hello, I am Garima Kukreja from New Delhi currently pursuing a Master’s in French Translation and Interpretation at Jawaharlal Nehru University. I have studied the French language since the fifth standard in school and that made me explore my love for this language. I joined Alliance Française de Delhi institute to continue my studies in French as I had this subject in school till the eleventh standard only. I pursued graduation in Political Science Honours to get an insight into the political trends, political thinkers, and the scenario in the world which at last had an impact over its formation and in particular, on the development of France during World War, Renaissance, and other periods. Even today, I use my knowledge of political studies for a better understanding of the culture and history of France. I shall continue to pursue different languages as I continue my career in the domain of translation and interpretation.

Career goals

I want to pursue my career in the Translation domain. Earlier, I just used to love studying the French language. But after I participated in one of the competitions at Alliance Française de Delhi, it changed my point of view. The competition asked me to translate one or two lines of my favorite Hindi song. At first, I was confused about whether I would be able to do it or not but I managed to translate it. It wasn’t that easy but yes, I understood that all we need is to transfer that particular meaning in another language. And obviously, I am discovering many other things right now in my post-graduation related to this domain.

I participated in the 2018 International Essay Contest for Young People where I wrote an essay in French based on the theme- ‘The Change I want to make.' I recently participated in the 15th edition of the ‘Chansons sans Frontieres’ competition where I submitted a song written by me in the French language. This competition is about writing a song, organized in Normandie for the world to participate.

If I talk about my career goals, I want to be the one who could blur the barriers between nations through skills of translation. I want to be a translator so that I could help the knowledge to disseminate across boundaries.

I hope that Summer Internship at Modlingua would help me to achieve my goals as I continue to contribute my skills and efforts to this prestigious company. Moreover, I look forward to working with this company that focuses on providing knowledge about the Translation business, Marketing, Project Management, etc.
