Brief Profile :
My name is Rashika Som and I am 20 years old. I completed my higher secondary education in science subjects from Meerut Public School, Meerut, and further, I went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in French from the University of Delhi. Currently, I am a second-year graduate. I have had French as a subject since 6th grade, which played a pivotal role in shaping my future choices. I was so fascinated by this language that I chose it as one of my optional subjects in +2.
I was chosen as my school's first French Editor in 11th grade and was further selected as the Editor in Chief (English/French) the next year. During my tenure as the editor, I wrote various articles as to why one should learn French and the importance of being bilingual in the modern market. I have worked as a content writer in technology on Internshala. I have been volunteering in my department's French plays ever since joining it. Recently I participated in an online contest held by a renowned French institution on Francophone Day, whereby one had to answer in a few lines why one should learn French and my answer was chosen as one of the top five answers all over India.
Further, I would like to gain more practical knowledge in translation and interpretation, but there are hardly any opportunities for freshers. Hence, Modlingua proves to be a life savior here, which allows us to hone our skills as well as learn new ones.
Career Goals :
I do not wish to be confined by a single domain but let my spectrum of knowledge and professional life grow in the coming years. From choosing the science stream in high school to switching to the arts stream in college, I have made questionable choices, but the only reason behind this has been to keep all opportunities open for myself. I am a greedy person who wants to be a better version of myself day after day.
With that said, I don't want to be a "Jack of All '', but thrive to be a master. I want to connect with different cultures, read and deeply analyze numerous French masterpieces. Ever since French was introduced to me, it made me more and more curious about the francophone world and pushed me to pursue this beautiful language. In the future, I wish to work in the corporate sector, for that, I am planning to do an MBA after completing my graduation. Mba+French is a wonderful combination and has more chances to grow in professional life rather than a single degree. I have been taking many short-term courses in computer languages and marketing. Recently I have taken admission in Alliance Français to ameliorate my French-speaking skills. I want to explore the translation and interpretation domain as well.
Modlingua is a great platform whereby, if selected, I will be able to put my theoretical knowledge in French into practical use as well as learn more about translation business, teamwork, and project management.
