Nidhi Negi

I have been pursuing Master’s degree in Spanish from Doon University since 2016. I have a Bachelors’ degree in Economics from Delhi University (2011) and another in Spanish from Doon University (2016). In the last 5 years at Doon University, I have read extensively about Spanish and Latin American history and culture, translation and interpretation methods and theories. As part of the Master’s degree, I am currently working on a dissertation on picaresque genre titled “el espiritu universal de Lazarillo de Tormes”.

I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, travelling and Spanish to English translations. I believe there is no age or time to pursue learning of any kind and one must try to take up new challenges and tasks in order to break monotony in life.

Career goals

My short-term career goals include successfully completing the Master's degree I am pursuing. Also, I intend to accomplish this internship as efficiently as possible. As per the long-term goals, the Masters degree in Spanish gives me various options to pursue. Within the next 5-10 years, I intend to go back to academics perhaps to pursue an MPhil/PHD preferably from one of the many prestigious universities in New Delhi. Until then I wish to work and explore my options and gain more and more experience in order to make better long-term career goals. I am a newcomer and I haven’t much experience. The internship with Modlingua would be my first step in that direction. I also intend to get DELE certification of language proficiency, at least B1 level within a year or two. I enjoy translating from Spanish to English and vice versa, short stories and articles.
