Deepasri Bhattacharya

I am a student of communication from Kolkata. Right from choosing Mass Communication as my graduation and post graduation subject under the University of Calcutta, to taking up a lateral Spanish language course from Ramakrishna Mission and Indo Hispanic Language academy, I have been trying to broaden my scope in the field of communication. I started out as a freelancer in television productions and then moved on to working for DataCore Systems as a Spanish translator in an ad monitoring process. Presently I work at Wipro Limited as a Spanish Language resource. I have a Dele B1 certification and am preparing for higher levels to lay a strong foundation to go forward in the field of Translation and Interpretation. Currently, I am an intern at Modlingua and hope to gain an experience about the operational structure of the field of Translation and Interpretation.

Career Goals

As far as identifying goals go I wouldn’t say I am there yet. I have always been interested in a diverse range of activities such as sports, dancing, movies and reading; and limiting myself to some specific milestones does not fit well with me. As a student of communication, after finishing graduation and primary Spanish education I had dreamed of using language as a resource within my range of capabilities and to keep updating that range with each passing step.

What started out as a hobby, been talked into by peers, turned into a passion that instilled an urge to go deeper into the subject. I have been working as a Spanish language resource for more than two years. Now I am looking forward to my internship at Modlingua which will hopefully open gateways of knowledge and awareness regarding the field of translation and interpretation, and its application in tertiary fields such as online marketing, social media marketing, branding and market research, which are beyond regular classroom curriculum. I have a desire to venture into new possibilities and experience work modules which I have not faced before.

 Translation and Interpretation is a vast area. It changes with the domain it is applied in. I aspire to look around this vastness and gather as much as possible. My Career goal is to not reach a specific point but to make a journey which would inspire me to take up difficult challenges and grow with every step so that each day I can improve on what I had the day before.
