Constantin Popa
He is an English Studies graduate student by Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), Spain. He considers himself a confident, focused, flexible, responsible person, fluent in Romanian, Spanish, and English. Having worked as a free-lancer translating language certificates, diplomas, general documents into the three languages above mentioned, he developed knowledge of some translation tools: SDL Trados, Wordfast Anywhere, andMemoQ.
Nevertheless, Constantin decided to continue studying to become a professional translator and now he is finishing a Master in Translation & TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) at Aston University, in Birmingham, UK, after receiving an excellence scholarship at this university.
Career goals
From an early age, he already knew he wanted to study languages. That was due to his moving from Romania to Spain when he was very young and that meant a total immersion in this language. That was the first call for languages, but his inspiration was his secondary English teacher, who gave him an appetizer of the opportunities of knowing other languages.
That is why he decided to follow this path and studied languages at a professional level. After finishing his degree in English Studies, he moved to the UK where he enjoyed a placement at Queen’s University Belfast. He took this step considering that being in touch with the culture of this country was the best way to understand its sociological reality, since speaking the language is not always enough. This contributes significantly to translators having a well-rounded education.
His intention is to apply and broaden his knowledge in translation and other linguistic services, and progress in his career.Project Management and Marketing are two aspects that interest him the most, as they will be of much help when he will set up his own business.
Being an intern at Modlingua will be a great opportunity to materialise all the knowledge and skills acquired so far, and it will also be a chance to shape other skills that will help him achieve his goals as a professional translator. In short, he considers himself to be a good fit for Modlingua because of his academic preparation, his strong background in languages, and also, for being a team player, full of motivation and committed to the projects he is working on.
