My eagerness in getting to know different cultures through their language and literature led me to study Translation and Interpreting. In my third year, I have started specializing in audiovisual translation. While still achieving a strong base in all translation fields (such as legal translation, proofreading, interpretation, etcetera), I prefer creative translations, undoubtedly. As José Saramago said, “writers do national literature and translators do universal literature”. In the same way, I hope to work in the future translating novels and graphic novels, subtitling films and localizing videogames.
From my degree at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, I would like to highlight, firstly, the fact that each student’s language combinations are used in classes. In my case, EN<>ES and FR>ES. Currently my English is at a C2 level and my French at a B2, although I hope to keep improving both gradually. Secondly, the variety of CAT tools which are taught, since I considered it essential in this career. And lastly, to be able to have teachers that are professional translators themselves, who can teach you both academic and world of work topics.
I have previously worked for Asociación de Líneas Aéreas (ALA) and as a volunteer for various charities. As a summer intern for Modlingua, I would like to take place in Entrepreneurship Development, Project Management, Quality Standards and Content Writing.
I fill my leisure time by reading, writing, drawing and any plastic art craft I recently came across. I am passionate about the intercultural exchange that such arts enable. Likewise, I am looking forward to the opportunity of working together with people from all over the globe.
