A passionate teacher and an accredited Translator and Interpreter, Mrs. Sneh Thakore who has spent most of her life in UK and Canada teaching and writing about Hindi and Indian culture, has She has been editor and publisher of 'Vasudha' a Hindi literary magazine (since Jan.2004), Director - International R. C. University (Canada Chapter), Chair Person Canada: World Forum of Dialogue She has contributed essays, poetry, reports and short stories regularly in Sarita, a well-read bi-monthly Hindi magazine, published by Delhi Press, India. Wrote a colomn for them "Sagar Paar Bharat".

During the Third Summer School for Translation Studies in Africa in Lusaka in 2014, participants suggested the founding of an association for translation studies with an African agenda. After much deliberation, we are now at the point where we want to announce our intent to found such an association. We intend to have a founding meeting during the Fourth Summer School for Translation Studies in Nairobi between 29 August and 1 September 2016. In the meantime, the to-be-founded association will be run by a steering committee, with the official leadership being elected at the first meeting.
With this communication, we invite scholars, students and practitioners who want to associate themselves with translation studies in Africa to join this association. We conceptualise translation studies as wide as possible, including interpreting, intercultural communication, intersemiotic translation, multimodal communication, sociologies of translation and all other forms of rewriting and recreation.

ISSUE 14 (2016) – Special Conference Issue
IATIS, the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies, is pleased to announce the online publication of the FOURTEENTH issue of New Voices in Translation Studies. Issue 14 consists of a selection of eight articles, five abstracts of recently submitted Ph.D. theses, and a book review section. The eight articles of this issue are proceedings from the Westminster Conference (2014) on public service translation. These papers explore the public service translation as a global concern highlighting the political implications of translation and multilingualism within contexts of the EU, the training of translators working in the criminal justice system, the potential consequences of inappropriate training for public service interpreters, interpreting and video interpreting issues within the medical profession vis-a-vis less established languages and migrant communities in Spain, translation policy using the US as a case study, the professionalization of the role of public service interpreters within a Chinese context and an analysis of the audience in community translation.

New Voices in Translation Studies is a refereed electronic journal co-sponsored by IATIS and the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies (CTTS) at Dublin City University. The aim of the journal is to disseminate high quality original work by new researchers in Translation Studies to a wide audience. New Voices welcomes submissions of papers, abstracts of recently submitted PhD theses and book reviews. As specified in the Editorial Policy, preference will be given to contributions by researchers new to the field. However, contributions from more experienced researchers will also always be welcome. Submissions should be formatted according to the guidelines on our website and sent to newvoices(a)dcu.ie.
