By Shivani AmbastaBefore commenting on Ants and their network, I would like to convey my heartiest thanks to Mr.Ravi Kumar, managing director of Modlingua giving us chance to elaborate our thinking to such a deep level and to relate the life of we, the translator with ants.
Not so much physically strong but much more attentive to work than we the human being are.We have much more potential to do the work efficiently.No matter whether it's a rainy day, scorching sunny day, shivering winter, they always do their work.It is quite fascinating for all of us to know that recent survey on ant shows that ants are much better than us to do the team work in coordination.They utilise the teamwork to migrate their meal from one place to another.They reorganise themselves, whenever they find some obstacles, under the guidance of their leader.Isn't it looking like a group of people working on a Big Project? Yes, it is a project for them.On a research done in Israel on ants, it was found that "the group lost coordination and each ant was on his own. But the erratic behaviour could prove useful, as a single ant was able to reassert control and lead the group in the right direction, the researchers found." We should learn the networking and coordination from them.If they can, we must.
Let me present my observation about ant so that I can easily make you understand how we translator can learn from those tiny ants to make our business in a comfort zone.
It was a rainy day.I was sitting beside a window with my three friends - book, coffee and a sweet.On my one hand, there was a cup of coffee, on the other, I was carrying a book.
I kept the sweet on the table.After taking a 2 or 3 sip of coffee, I started eating the sweet.Suddenly there came the fourth friend - Ant.Who continuously starring those sweets and wanted to eat it as the whole.It seems she was hungry since a day.I just cut a tiny piece and kept it to the place where she could easily approach. She smelled it once and went back.In the next ten minutes, she appeared with her army and ordering them to carry away the sweets.
That day only, I realised a work can be easy if we work in the team.Same here, to work as a whole it needs not only your attention and your cooperation but it needs the whole team cooperation.
A single ant can only do so much but when they work as a team, they are able to achieve the apex.Same here in language field you can only realise the things what you want when you mutually understand each other and act like a good leader.
This kind of leadership and teamwork, when applied to your business, will make your business process work like clockwork.Being a translator if you ignore the ideas of others in spite of welcoming your team's innovation, you will also get the same response.
I have never seen an ant leave the work call for a day.They always want to finish their work in a day and confirmed that they did the job. Remember always the more thing you finish, the faster you advance your business and do the quality work.We the translators have to take initiative and make society realise the importance of us.An organisation is nothing without us.If we do not exist, they can't do anything that requires translation.
The significance of translation in our daily life is extensively multidimensional.Not only does translation pave the way force and for global interaction but allows the nation to an interactive relationship when it comes to making advancements in technology, politics etc.
Despite the fact that English has a far and wide reach today，the impact of local culture and language remains as strong as ever. With the growth of social media, it is relatively easy to reach the audience.This, in turn, has resulted in the need for translation diverse field such as education，mass communication etc.
Translation plays an important role including:
1)growth of multinational companies.
2)cultural interchange
3)Anations external affairs
4)Boost in tourism.
Conclusion: We should maintain the network that we have and we should try to expand it as big as possible.We should always co-operate and co-ordinate in a better way in our team. We can do wonders if we work in a team, in which all individuals are like ants. I am a student of Chinese language, there is a saying in Chinese 勤奋是成功之母。Diligence is the parent of success.Once you devoted towards your work make sure that others work diligently.
