At first sight the wolf-pack strategy shown in the picture, appears too simple but it is the effective structure to move in the wild. Humans are normally different, and in such displacement humans could assume to place the alpha in the front or in the middle to be protected by the whole pack. When in a human group the leader is placed in the front, it is a matter of hierarchy and the expression of highly important individual, but humans tend to be proud rather than wise.
The wild animal’s kingdom, protects the elder but also use their wisdom to take some decisions about the best ground to move in, but note that also the sick ones are in the vanguard because if any loss of lives occurs, they are not necessary for the preservation of the species…Nature always looks for life economy. In case of an incoming attack some of the strongest will protect them anyway and a chain reaction will be triggered in the overall group.
The skills of the alpha male are not only strength but a combination of cleverness and agility to take critical decisions for the reorientation of the pack if necessary. In a teamwork like the one for translators and its network, the work is coming from many directions and the prioritization of what's better for everyone should be done by the most experts keeping in mind that the work should bring benefits to everyone and that the combination of skills and strengths will create the best outcome for the clients.
Being part of the group, as far as it is properly coordinated, is good enough for a smart individual because leadership is something that should be demonstrated with time and patience. Within any kind of teamwork, the gregarious mindset is in the foundation of success. I always think in a chorus, where most of the voices just contributes to the overall harmony and beauty of the music, and just in some cases the first voice (soloist) puts the highest note in the context to give the right impression in the audience. The rise of the soloist voice in small parts of the piece, brings the highest emotions to the group, instead of feeling any kind of jealousy. A good team or network has as its most important feature the overall consciousness that everything could be achieved as the sum of small well-done tasks.
