The terms Globalization, internationalization, Localization and Translation are best defined by authors Pierre Cadieux and Bert Esselink in ther article GILT which is an abbreviation for Globalization, internationalization, Localization and Translation. These terms according to them stand as ---translation was born when people started moving from one place to another in search to discover new places, to learn about their habits, culutres and traditions etc., This became more important as the World war I and II broke to communicate in a secret manner with out the knowledge of the enemy the army started a coded language for their use the same way the enemy also created and decoding these, which can also be called as technical translation of those days. The term translation is defined as rendering from one language into another.

Localization on the other hand is to make the text local and available to the people of that area also. Product information is translated as per the requirements of the client to be able to be marketed easily. A locale in our industry identifies a group of people by their common language and cultural conventions; the group may or may not be in the same physical location. There are many difficulties while translating the source into local language(s) these carry a different dialect in each and every place a standard language usage needs to be found and established as the base language. Some times the clients side will also have knowledge of the local language and the words given by their glossary and that of the translators may differ but the meaning conveyed is same this needs to be cleared.

Internationalization is vice versa where in a localization the market is targeted only to over come the difficulties faced by an international brand in local place. Here the local company trying to place itself as an international brand they need to express themselves in a strange place and need to establish according to the conditions of the so called communication, networking and cultural back grounds given. Both ‘export’ and ‘import’ are covered in this filed the translator has to place him/herself in that culture, tradition etc to over come the hurdles for the client.

Globalization includes both localization and internationalization this can be defined as reaching the nook and corner of the globe. As per the current changes of communication and agreements between various countries in their economical, cultural and other relations a translator is a must to go forward with the goal of reaching these requirements.

The general sense is that a translator who ever it may be needs to place himself in the other place to achieve his/her target and need to have a good and strong networking and communicating group.
