Yash Vinay Kumar
Currently pursuing his secondary education, Yash is studying in Grade 9 of The International School Bangalore (TISB). Yash is a committed, passionate and dedicated learner who likes to explore topics outside of his comfort zone and delve deep into the unknown. He has achieved excellent grades in his end-of-term exams, one of his nine subjects being Spanish. Over the course of his three years learning Spanish, Yash has developed his oral, speaking, writing and reading skills to a great extent and now loves to converse in Spanish with his classmates, friends and teachers. He aspires to learn the language to its fullest and make a trip to Spain, whether it is for a vacation or for job prospects.
A few of Yash’s hobbies include singing Hindustani Classical Vocal music, playing competitive tennis and attending Model United Nations (MUNs). Yash has achieved a distinction in his 1st Year singing exam, won the 2nd place in an interschool tennis competition conducted by TISB and won 1st Honourable Delegate (2nd best) among over 60 delegates in the ECOFIN Committee, TISBMUN ’17. Also, having achieved a distinction in his 1st year Trinity Speech and Drama Exam, Yash has also participated in two school drama productions, both of which were immense successes.
Modlingua is just the right place for Yash to hone, develop and improve his Spanish skills. He believes Modlingua is providing the perfect opportunity for him to fully realize and achieve the dreams of his life.
Career Goals
As a current secondary school student and having just completed Grade 8, I am undecided on which careers to pursue in the near future. My options range from an entrepreneur and businessman to a software engineer and technology designer to a translator and interpreter. Nonetheless, I am dead-set on one goal: I want to repay the society in whatever way possible.
I have always had a passion and drive to aid the underprivileged and poor. Whether it was from conducting a blood donation camp in my community with around 60 donors or organizing a collection drive for old yet unworn clothes for distribution in a neighbouring slum, I have always actively contributed towards working for a greater cause. My deep-rooted love for languages, especially Spanish and Hindi, has also boosted my progress in this field, as it has enabled me to start an educational YouTube channel. In my channel (named Yash Vinay Kumar after myself), I teach core subjects, tips, tricks and even the basics of Spanish in my regional language, Hindi, to eliminate the language barrier and make education accessible to all. I feel this will greatly increase the number of educated people in relatively rural areas, as they will no longer find it hard to enjoy the fruits of learning, even without knowing English.
Nevertheless, Modlingua is just the right place for me to polish and refine my Spanish skills. In today’s day and age, when the world is seemingly becoming smaller by the second as a result of Globalization, knowing an international language is quite a valuable asset. It helps us to expand our knowledge of the unknown, experience different cultures and mingle and make new friends globally. Therefore, coming to Modlingua as a summer intern, I am confident about my future, knowing I will be able to contribute to the world in a way or another.
