Brief Profile

I am Trisha Hom Roy, a 19 yr old student, and language enthusiast. Currently, I’m a third-year college student pursuing B.A. French (Hons) from Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, Arts Faculty, University of Delhi. I’ve come from an Arts/Humanities background and I’ve always had an interest in languages, especially French. I am fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali, and French participated and won in many French Olympiads in school, won interschool competitions, and still I’m continuously looking for opportunities to improve my French in a better way. I’m also a student at Alliance Française de Delhi and currently doing level B2.2. I’ve already given the DELF A1 and A2 during my school years and passed with flying colors.

Throughout my school years till today, my admiration and love for foreign cultures and languages have never gone away. Be it any culture, east or west, north or south, I never leave a chance to learn more about people across the world. Therefore, putting myself out there in the world and learning how to do it is my number one goal at the moment. Going into the future, I’m looking into the prospects of doing a Masters in Translation and Interpretation or a Masters in Media and Communication as I believe that both these fields will allow me to fulfill my dreams, i.e. meet new people, interact with them, and gain a better understanding about other cultures and traditions.

Career Goals

Since my school days till now, the most important goal for me has been to be a better version of myself tomorrow than what I am today. Be it academically, emotionally, or professionally, I’ve striven each day to become a reliable, strong, and successful Trisha Hom Roy in the future. Although I’m still confused as to which direction I’m supposed to go, I’ve kept a few short-term and long-term goals in front of me.

Since my childhood, I’ve had dreams to go abroad, meet new people, live and experience new cultures and traditions, basically widen my world beyond the borders of India. As silly as it sounds to me now, I believed that learning French would lead me to fulfill my dreams. Now that I’ve had a better understanding of my future goals, I’m working hard to select a field or direction where I’m able to the best of my abilities. First off is that I need to do a master's in either translation and interpretation or Media and communication. These two are the fields that really caught my attention; therefore I’m looking forward to any opportunity that will make me understand these two fields better. My long-term goal is to bring fluency to my French and to be able to communicate with others well so that I’m able to work at a high level, where I’m able to impact my society and others around me in a positive way. While working as a volunteer at an NGO, I realized that we all have a huge potential in a way that whatever we say can really affect the others around us. So it has been my goal since then to use my abilities positively in whichever way possible, no matter how small it is.

So keeping these goals in my mind, I’m really looking forward to working as a summer intern at Modlingua as it would really help me to learn and acquire new skills such as time, work pressure management, and a lot more. Moreover, I’ll also get an opportunity to showcase my skills and knowledge while working as an intern. I’m ready to have an insight into working in a professional setting and make new important and meaningful experiences.
