Brief Profile
Bonjour, tout le monde ! I am Rhea Sehgal and I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in the French language from the department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi. I have been studying French since school and thus, I've been in touch with it for almost 6 years now. Along with French as my major, I'm studying German as my minor. I recently completed the A1 level in German from Max Mueller Bhavan and I will be starting with A2 this summer. I've also recently gained experience in teaching French to elementary students in my neighborhood. Apart from that, I've participated in several Debates and a couple of MUNs along with other co-curricular activities like dancing and poem recitation.
Coming from a defense background, over the years, my family has shifted every 2 years which is why I have lived in and seen numerous cities, big and small all over the country. This is one of the reasons I've become a travel freak! I absolutely adore exploring new places and different cultures and have always been fascinated by learning new languages which is the main reason for me to pursue a degree in French.
After I do my master's in French, I will strive to become a successful multilingual translator/interpreter and hopefully, settle abroad! I believe, after completing this internship, I will be more fluent in French with a much better command of it.
Career Goals
Since childhood, I've expressed my interest in a variety of career options. To start with, I always thought that I want to make a career as either a lawyer, by dint of my debating skills or as a psychologist, given my deep interest in learning about human behavior. Additionally, there also existed a phase when I felt like becoming a travel blogger!
In grade 7, when I started learning French as a third language, I immediately fell in love with it. After studying it for 4 years i.e till 10th, I decided to make a career out of it. After completing 12th, I applied to the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi, for the course "BA Hons in French". With all the credit going to my highly experienced professors, I am proud to say that taking up French is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. And now, being in the 2nd year of my graduation and supremely happy with German being my minor, I've gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about European countries and their culture and I cannot be more enthusiastic to explore all of it.
For the moment, I hope to gain some work experience by doing summer or part-time internships related to foreign languages to strengthen my linguistic skills and increase my knowledge. After my graduation, I'm aiming to do a master's in French from the department of Germanic and Romance studies itself. As far as German is concerned, I've already done level A1 from Max Mueller Bhavan which is going to be followed by level A2 in June 2021 and level B1 in January 2022. Finally, I'm aspiring to become a multilingual Translator/ interpreter. After my graduation, I will strive my best to get a job at a translation/ interpretation company or if possible, an embassy-linked institution.
One of the main reasons for choosing this profession can be my everlasting love for traveling and exploring new places. I believe that if I am successful, I will be able to achieve my dream of touring Europe.
I would like to thank Dr. Ravi Kumar and the Modlingua Team for selecting me as a summer intern. This internship will definitely help me improve my skills as a language student. I can say with great confidence that I will live up to your expectations and give my best!
