Career goals
I have always tried to find something that can stir my passion, a job that can bring a difference. I relish the ultimate combination of passion and contribution. I have always been interested in learning languages. As Fedrico Fellini rightly said, “A different language is a different vision of life”. Knowing different languages means living different lives, cultures, histories and beliefs. However, my interest in the field of language has never been confined to any particular limit.
After completing my graduation from a small town of Himachal Pradesh, I stepped into a city like Chandigarh. I explored myself there. I was a part of many organising committees in my college and did the editorial work of my college magazine. Then I moved to the national capital. I got selected in India’s best social sciences university and that was an actual turning point in my life, my real journey of self-development. Now when I look back 8 years, I was a completely different person.
I did my M Phil in Translation studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and completed my PhD in Feb 2018. Writing about career goals was a bit difficult for me because I am not a conventional person who has just studied to do a 9 to 5 job. I am a workaholic. I firmly believe in dreaming and doing. I have done lots of activities during my PhD course. I learnt Spanish language and cleared its B1 level. I write poetry and have been performing with All India Radio. I acted in a Spanish movie and was part of a theatrical group (Yellow Cat theatre). I have participated and presented my paper at various seminars and conferences on social and literary issues in many national and international institutions
I want to carve my niche in the field of language but it has to be blended with some social cause. I believe learning or any work one does should be full of passion and compassion. That’s how I learn languages and did research in Translation Studies. Translation bridges societies and makes intelligible a whole culture. Now, I wish to be associated with some NGO where I can render my services and payback to the humanity with my skill and knowledge and in the process eke out a living for myself.
