On 12th April 2011, a girl from Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh boarded the Padmavati Express train at Lucknow for Delhi. She was traveling to give an examination for joining the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Unfortunately, some burglars ganged up who had the intention to snatch her gold chain and bag. And this led to a mishap where she was pushed out of the moving train and a train on the parallel track with 49 carriages crushed her left leg. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctor had to amputate her left leg to save her life. Thereafter, she was provided a prosthetic leg.
This was the unfortunate incident with a national level volleyball player, Arunima Sinha.
This is the striking and astounding example of a brave and fearless girl who didn’t lose hope and rather set an aim to ascend the highest peak in the world- Mount Everest. Despite so many difficulties and hurdles, she didn’t cringe down and even defied people who looked at her with pity. Her aim was to mount each of the continent's highest peaks and hoist the national flag of India. With the help of the Sherpa( Nepalese mountaineer), she reached the pinnacle of the Everest at 10:55 am on 21st May 2013. Those 7 minutes atop the summit were the best moments of her life. She just wanted to yell at the world that she had achieved what she desired even with her lost leg. Till 2014, she had already scaled up on the seven peaks in different continents. She completed her final summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica on 1st January 2019.
This is the stimulating and one of the most inspiring stories of a supergirl that I believe will motivate every differently-abled person in this world.
