Modlingua Online Summer Internship 2018
June 2018 - August 2018
 
Introduction:
 
Modlingua, a well-known organization for Language and Translation organized an online summer internship Programme from June 2018 to August 2018 with the vision to motivate the interns to connect and get introduced in many domains of Language Marketing and to inculcate in them the attitude and behavior which is very important in the global world. The program was graced by many lectures from various specialists who come from different domains which aim to create global personality in various aspects of Language and Translator sector and introduce us to the wide range of career options. Through this amazing and valuable workshop, we learn to be and become more effective in a globalized and interconnected world.
Beneficial to everyone and every language student, it familiarizes us to various aspects of learning a language.  
Through an integrated approach to learning which Modlingua provide us, we have promoted our self or our profile and learned many things which is beneficial for or career.
 
Objectives:

•  To make interns aware of the value of quality control, this improves perceptibility in career and enhances the quality of the job.
• To make students eager to learn content writing and make their job most effective through modlingua rubric.
• To make students familiar with various language tools in order to improve the quality of work.
• To discover the word transcription and script writing.
• To enhance the language learning quality.
• Negotiate and get the best deal in the translation field.

 
 Many Lectures by our mentor Mr. Ravi Kumar, 3 guest lecturers from subject experts of our valuable topics and 8 assignments which increase the practical skills and learning potential of interns of different streams from all across the world.
The Interns displayed a lot of enthusiasm in collaboration and cooperation among themselves and in participating in interactive lectures. This workshop has provided a platform for the interns to exercise their analytical and oratory skills. It has enabled them to elucidate their standpoint by utilizing rhetorical eloquence. It has taught them the skills of researching, organizing and presenting information in a compelling fashion.
 

1. The Summer Internship provided the interns a platform to share their viewpoints with each other, to put across their opinion and learn reasonably with proper and systematic way.
2. The Internship resulted in knowledge gaining in language field, sharing by the mentor and guide Mr. Ravi Kumar and many subject experts.
3.  The students who are volunteering learned how to conduct and coordinate among themselves by keeping different aspects like writing skills, gathering information, summarizing, explaining, and presenting in a systematic way. They learned coordination in sync with each other. This was also an important outcome of the Internship.
4. The interns have learned how to the transcript in the same and in a different language. They have learned how to write a subtitle for youtube video and help in bringing Modlingua Rubric in existence which creates history by Modlingua 2018. This has resulted in the brand building of Modlingua and benefits us as we are the intern at Modlingua 2018.
5.  The Internship has enhanced the student’s ability to analyze, select and evaluate evidence, construct and refute arguments, critical thinking, effective writing communication, and independent research and teamwork.
6. The topics which were learned upon amplified the awareness of various diversified relevant to the translation which has resulted in the awareness of current job opportunities among the interns.
7. The platform given to the interns has also enhanced their career and reputation.

 
Assignments that we have done:

1. Analysis of errors and omissions in content writing:  in the assignment, we discuss the quality standers in translation. We get acquainted with seven quality standards and help to create modlingua rubric for error control. We were well informed about the use of A1 tool (Grammarly)  in improving the quality of content and how it reduces the time taken to carry out the editing work. 
2.  Quality control in content writing and translation: In this assignment, we learned that how Modlingua Rubric 2018 helpful in executing projects through online collaboration, improve the efficiency at a workplace and provide provision for any feedback. We provide a comparison between Modlingua Rubric 2018 and DIN 2345 Standards established in 1998 in Germany. We have talked about the advantages as well as disadvantages of using them in an error control mechanism. We also presented the limitations of DIN 2345 standards and it’s Importance of time management in content writing from a content writer's perspective, editor's perspective as well from the management's perspective. We came to know the importance of quality standards and feedback mechanism in the quality control process. 

3. Transcription: This was one of the most interesting assignments which I have done as an intern at Modlingua. I have done transcription of youtube video.
4. Subtitle:  Another interesting work, where I have translated youtube video and provide it with subtitle.
5. Social Media Marketing: The importance of Google Search and Top Ranking in Google search.  How come translators or multilingual writers benefit from this phenomenon? Use of language skills and multiple languages in the areas of Content writing, Online Marketing and Translation.  A place for translators in these given scenarios: the Globalization, Localization, Internationalization, and Translation of content and how language pairs added with professional knowledge of these processes. 
6. Script Writing: I have written a video script on a very famous writer “Patrick Modiano”
7. Business Personality:  I have written another video script for a business personality “ Louis Renault”
Advantages/disadvantages of online internship
There are numerous advantages we have in the online internship program. By doing an online internship we can continue - according to our situation - to exercise our salaried activity, take care of our 9 to 5 job or to prepare for another diploma or degree.
Indeed, it is not uncommon for some interns to opt for face-to-face training at the university or an organization and enroll in another degree that interests them by correspondence.  As an intern of Modlingua 2018 I feel that the internship being the same whether they were acquired face-to-face or by correspondence, nobody will be able to make the difference. And that can save a lot of time! It is an effective and discreet formula.
Though we have many disadvantages of an online internship, for example, we are alone in front of our courses, or almost. No teachers at our disposal who can give us a written and oral demonstration at a time, and no classmates who can help motivate.
Of course, most distance courses include contacts by phone, mail or chat with our teachers, but this will never replace a teacher "live"! It can be difficult to motivate yourself alone in your homework after a long day at work. But In summer internship at Modlingua 2018, we have attended many lectures and clear our all quarries same as the class lecture, we have worked in groups and many times we have taken help from other interns also.  
Finally, the advantage is that thanks to the Modlingua community networks, we will be able to follow the information, training, and our projects in the future also without having to move to the other place. It is a practical, economical solution that allows us to access to the new world.  

My experience at modlingua

Online internship with Modlingua community is a unique experience, an experience that will have an impact on my future life. I have learned how to become familiar with a new Market culture, how to live in an online world and community and how to cope in a global environment, but above all, it's an incredible chance to progress in Social Media marketing. I never thought I could write a video script of any personality, transcript and write a subtitle for youtube but after 2 months with Modlingua I feel more comfortable and realize that I have progressed a lot.  I got familiar with these words only because of Modlingua. it is an experience that allows us to discover another benefit of language learning and translation which enrich our knowledge and improves perceptibility in our career and enhances the quality of a job. In addition, working with Modlingua is a very good way to become familiar with the language market world through a daily practice. Finally, on a personal level, I would say it is a truly complete experience and worth working with Modlingua.
 
In this internship we have graced  with many knowledge and valuable lectures by our mentor as  How to collaborate through social media, Introduction to transcription, Golden rules of translation, How to upload subtitle on youtube,  Apply the transcription task in the real situation, Use of Language skills in various domains /areas: Transcription, content marketing etc.
 
The Summer Internship at Modlingua 2018 has enhanced the interns’ ability which helps them access a new world and allow them to go beyond limits of geographical boundaries. It improves perceptibility in career and enhances the quality of the job.
