In Social media marketing, the foremost thing is to know which gateways/platforms are best in social media marketing. In this lecture, Mr. Ravi Kumar talks about the best 5 gateways to social media marketing: 1. Facebook 2. LinkedIn 3. Twitter 4. Instagram 5. YouTube. These five social media platforms are very important for us, marketing ourselves, marketing our products or services or offering some services to others, etc.

Let’s start with Facebook, which started from a university by Mark Zuckerberg, is the biggest social media site around, with more than 2.5 billion monthly active users that’s almost a third of the world’s population. It has helped, in fact, the whole world in the globalization process phenomena. Facebook has brought disruption in mass communication and it has increased the pace of globalization. Facebook always tries to give a better experience to its users. This is a very big platform, a big way also to reach out to the people. You can understand very much the importance of the outreach (can be 2.5 billion monthly active users). Everything that you do is free.

LinkedIn is now more than just a resume and job search site. It has evolved into a professional social media site where industry experts share content, network with one another, and build their personal brand. It has more than 260 million monthly active users and has around 500 million-plus users but the important factor is it is not for doing normal chitchats, jokes, etc. LinkedIn is also used for background check. LinkedIn is a very important platform for professionals.

Twitter is a social media site for news, entertainment, sports, politics, and more. It has another importance. There is less possibility of putting small chitchats messages rather it is mainly used for creating buzz. It’s popular for using short messages. Twitter has 330 million monthly active users.

Instagram has 1 billion monthly active users. Instagram is popular for sharing images. It allows you to share a wide range of content such as photos, videos, stories, and live videos. Instagram is used in visual storytelling. This has become another form of expression and there are lots of people, celebrities especially they use it maximum. As a brand, you can have an Instagram business profile, which will provide you with rich analytics of your profile and posts.

The most important platform is YouTube. YouTube is a video-sharing platform where users watch a billion hours of videos every day.  It has around 2 billion monthly active users. YouTube brought disruption in mass communication through the use of videos. YouTube has created another revolution in inner communication and that is putting videos. Also, YouTube has given away to citizen journalism using motion pictures. YouTube (owned by Google) is also often known as the second largest search engine after Google.

To conclude, Mr. Ravi Kumar has chosen these five platforms for us to understand them as well as use them for our social media marketing plan. These platforms are used for selling products and services. These are the platforms that can help you brand yourself, brand your products and services.

Initially, the video talked about Project management which includes the continuous development of processes and continuous improvement and the way we can achieve that i.e. plan, do the things, control and check. Improvement is needed in order to not to burden the management, to develop a process, minimize the risk and get the maximum benefit of the invested time and income.

Mr. Ravi also talked about Quality management in a detailed manner. The video covered a detailed part of what translation management is. He referred to 9 recommended quality standards that are useful in translation which help in the effectiveness of the project. Quality standards are deployed for controlling the mismatch of expectations.

Out of 9 Quality Standards, 7 of them are process-oriented, and then he narrated their origins from different countries. These focus on the process of hiring translators, qualification of translators, editors, and workflow, etc. ISO 17100 standards are amongst the most popular and the rest three requires audits. The most important is SAE J2450, which deals with the text initiated by the Society of Automotive Engineers, 1997. They have defined certain parameters to check whether the translation is of good quality or not.

Later Mr. Ravi Kumar briefed that Modlingua did some experiments on these quality standards and used them in their process management in 2018. They used parameters like SAE, Modlingua Rubric, and Grammarly, they were able to save time and speed up the work by 50% with more efficiency in sentence structure and punctuations, etc.

He also narrated the parameters of SAE J2450 (usage of wrong terms, omissions, word structure, spellings, and miscellaneous errors, etc). Apart from linguistic errors, there are some technical errors called nonlinguistic errors. If we do not know how to control these errors, we will be in big trouble. He also talked about Segment Level checks which include forgotten translations, corrupt characters, inconsistency (source and target inconsistency). He tipped us that the translation can get rejected if you make more than 2 types of such errors (quotations mark brackets, tags, colors), despite having a good content quality because these errors can affect the output in the backend.

Lastly, he introduced us to the Terminology points, which means that the keywords should always be identified and a glossary should be made. He concluded the video by telling us that these Quality control techniques could also be deployed in Content management, News writing, Publicity materials.
