Priyanka Sawant

Priyanka Sawant has a deep passion for reading books on various subjects that afford a peek into some of the greatest minds of the past, as well as pave a way to encounter various cultures all around the world. She loves to write as well. Her interest in languages and thereby translation was born so that she could read books in various languages as well as translate them into others in order to reach a wider readership.

She holds a Masters with Honors Degree in English Literature from the University of Mumbai. She has also completed level B1 from Goethe University as well as Diploma in German from the University of Mumbai. She has worked as a teacher of English and German at K.J.Somaiya Jr. College of Science and Commerce. She writes various blogs as well as has a page on Instagram dedicated to her writing.

She intends to complete all the levels of Goethe Institute, as well as, earn an Advanced Diploma from the University of Mumbai. This will aid her in her pursuits as a translator. She also aims to compile her writing in the form of a novel.

Career Goals

My first love in life has always been booked. Reading, and subsequently writing, chose me as their conduit from the ethereal world to then manifest themselves in reality. While I backpacked from one world to the other, I encountered the minds of several writers from a variety of ages past. Their lives, I noticed, were never pigeonholed into doing just one thing over and over again till the end of time, but rather expanding their minds in various directions and exploring avenues that defy the modern concept of having just one career.

Inspired by such authors, I, therefore, choose to be a writer, a teacher and a translator.

A love of languages was born out of my passion to read a plethora of books in order to understand various cultures from around the world. After mastering English in my early years, followed by Hindi and Marathi, I turned towards German in college.

I secured First Class in English Literature in my Bachelor as well as Masters with Honours Degree. Alongside the mainstream education, I completed levels A1, A2 and B1 from Goethe Institute, Mumbai. I also have a diploma in German from the University of Mumbai.

I proceeded to teach German and English at K.J. Somaiya Jr. College of Science and Commerce, as well as conduct tuitions at home for the subjects aforementioned. My writing, on the other hand, found an outlet in blogs and an Instagram page, although most of my words are still confined to the notebooks that I aspire to, in the next year, bring together in the form of a novel. I intend to also complete all the levels of German at Goethe Institute, as well as, Advance Diploma at the University of Mumbai in the year 2018-2019.

While my education has been priceless in sowing the seeds of knowledge in my mind that embody all my passions of writing, teaching and translating, after having stepped into the professional world, I felt keenly the lack of practical training that acts as fertilizer to not only help assimilate one to the professional environment but also propels growth up the professional ladder. This is where I hope Modlingua will provide me with the direction through the development of entrepreneurial skills, as well as building a brand, and providing exposure to various ways of marketing a product.
